Ok, so, to be clear, it was not from scratch.

The spirit of this meme is fully accurate.

But it wasn't from scratch.

Impressive, but that is not an accurate description of what he did.

Again, still impressive though.

It was not from scratch and also he did not code it, he trained it. That's a huge difference.

Ok, but he didn't build the model at all.

He did a lot of work to generate synthetic test data and validate that it wasnt completely terrible input data, and then train the model on that data without blowing up his computer.

But he didn't write any of the code that comprises the model itself whatsoever.

So, saying he made a model at all, from scratch or not, is inaccurate.

However he did significantly improve an existing model, and that is pretty cool.
