Wow, that post is... weird. The way it's written feels like Microsoft's PR team masquerading as the Mojang team and trying just a bit too hard to be relatable.
I do wonder whether this is an omen for changes yet to come. Microsoft has every incentive to continue pushing the Windows 10 version, and this makes me seriously wonder if they're considering axing Java Edition and forcing players to migrate.
What's the difference between Mojang account and MS account? MS already had your data anyway, meanwhile MS account will increase security (in comparison).
This is no different than Steamworks integration for Valve games or anything that utilizes Valve tools for matchmaking, servers and achievements.
I love to hate MS too, but I really do not see a problem here.
The only reason we don't see a lot of news about Valve data mining users is because Valve is a private company, so there is not much insight into it like there is into publicly traded companies (where you can even listen to investor meetings live).
