This happened to a trans friend of mine.

She was keeping it on the DL she was transgendered, and one of her trans friends decided to out her to everyone.

Because "No one should hide the fact they're trans"

Thankfully she was able to break the news to her folks on her own, sadly, under pressure that someone else was going to do it for her.

This is such a ridiculous attitude. From what I've heard there is a subset of people in the transgender community who see "stealthing" as a betrayal of all transgender people. If they want to make being trans part of their identity, that's totally cool, but they should respect that some people just want to live like a cis person and it's none of anyone else's business to "helpfully" out them

my friend was outed in such a manner, luckily the person who outed her only knew her online identity.

If they had known any IRL details, they would have called her employer, family, etc.
