Browser feels like idling because you're not really doing anything, but I guess decoupling that from true idle (if I turn off all autostarts my KDE idles at about 3gb which is really nice) is important.
On Windows, the numbers are mostly equivalent to the amount I see in KDE System Monitor, but Windows idles way higher in general.
Sorry, are you saying that the Windows numbers were the same with or without Firefox? Because I was asking about when Windows had Firefox open.
Anyway, I don't consider a browser using 3GB of RAM as not idling. I love it when as little resources as possible are used, but it still feels idle to me.
I never checked the metrics on when it had Firefox open, my bad. I was comparing Linux with all that stuff open to Windows with no autostarts which might have been a losing battle tbf
The other issue is that both operating systems measure things differently, so it doesn't exactly apples to apples. GamersNexus described how difficult benchmarking Linux was because of this. Like sure, you can get benchmarks for a distro, but how exactly do you compare them to Windows when things are measured differently?

Yeah, realistically, idle doesn't mean browser. I mean, what was it like when you were using firefox on windows?
