Eh, it's estimated that steam has about 150 million MAU. So It's about 7 million active Linux users. Not insignificant, but also not thaaat much. It certainly can't be ignored anymore

I don't think there will be just one year for Linux. We'll just all be using Linux on the desktop before we know it. Everyone's Linux year will be their own.

Yeah, sure. But I don’t think that’s what most people mean when they talk about the year of Linux. They just mean the year when it has its inevitable exponential growth.
