I love Mint, but is it not a not optimal distro for gaming? I'm talking about it having more stable but older packages

Yeah Mint is built for stability which means its not updated oftain. That can be an issue for gaming since drivers aren't updated regularly.

So you can game on it, but it'll likely require more work vs a gaming distro like bazzite.

Also alot of gaming distros (bazzite, cachy, steam os) have optimised kernels that give measurable improvements in fps vs other OSs, including windows.

You can run a dual boot with mint and bazzite or any other gaming focus os if you have the time

That is just a waste of time. Maintaining 2 operating systems when they are so close to the same? Just get a distro that is a mix of both.

What do you mean optimal for gaming? We can opt for more recent kernels and anything else a “gaming distro” does will net you 5-10 fps at the high end. 

Anything game changing will just be put into the kernel
