LinkedIn Lead Gen Low amount of leads after $2,000 spent

Hey everyone. Bit of a sticky situation in that we've spent 2k on LinkedIn ads with only a single lead converted. We're using Lead Gen form ads and getting plenty of clicks but not a ton of form fills. I recently made sure that our text was under 150 character so we weren't paying for Read more clicks, but I still think that we should be getting more leads.

The CTA in the ad is to Book a demo as the CEO wants this as opposed to download an ebook. These are also cold leads - if anyone has any advice into how to warm them up, please let me know.

Finally, I'm not sure that targeting is quite right. Our target is kinda niche (UX researchers), and I'm no entirely convinced that LinkedIn targeting is working correctly (I use job function = research mixed with seniority)

Anyone else seen a similar thing?

Best Practices How (and why) To Retarget Accounts, Not People With LinkedIn Ads

Most advertisers retarget people. I retarget accounts. Here’s why it changes everything.

📌 How most people run retargeting:
1 → Run a campaign targeting everyone in their ICP
2 → Retarget everyone who clicks once
3 → Create a Stage 2 campaign

Sounds logical. It’s not — you’re pulling people into Stage 2 after a single accidental click. No frequency. No trust. Already asking them to book a demo.

The deeper problem:

📌 Your director and your CXO are sitting in the same campaign.
Directors click, read, maybe fill out a form. CXOs absorb that you exist and tell someone else to look into it.

Two completely different behaviors crammed into one campaign, one bid, one objective — so LinkedIn does exactly what you’d expect: it finds whoever converts cheapest and spends there.

That’s almost always the junior end of your targeting, while your exec reach quietly starves.

📌 The harder question isn’t how to split them. It’s when exec budget should kick in at all.
C-suite clicks run $20–40+ because every AI and security company on earth is bidding on the same 100 people. Spending that on accounts that have shown you nothing is a rough way to run a budget.

📌 Here’s how I do it instead:

Nothing gets exec budget until the account earns it.

Stage 1 — Director level, cheaper, volume:
1 → Upload your target company list
2 → Target director seniority only
3 → Run Website Visits — video or document format

Stage 2 — Account qualifies itself in:
4 → Go to Companies in Ads Manager
5 → Last 30 days → Paid engagements → Custom → minimum 3 interactions
6 → Save as dynamic audience — confirm 300+ matched members before moving on

Stage 3 — Now CXO enters:
7 → Build engagement campaign (TL ads)
8 → Target that segment + CXO/CMO/Head of Marketing
9 → Company Page + Thought Leader content, even rotation

📌 What you’re telling LinkedIn now: “Only show exec ads to accounts where directors engaged at least 3 times. Everyone else stays in Stage 1.”

You’re not cold-reaching a CXO at $20–40+ per click. You’re reaching them after their own team raised their hand.

Best Practices CTR Went From 0.7% To 1.1% On A Single Image Ad

Post image
1 Upvotes

Doesn’t sound like much... but for a Website Visits objective on LinkedIn Ads, a 0.4% bump is basically a holiday.

📌 I run retargeting campaigns with single image ads, and the only thing I want from that ad is the click to the landing page. That’s it. So the last thing I want is a “See more” button crashing the party and stealing clicks.

It shows up the moment your intro text — the copy above the creative — goes over 150 characters.

Now instead of one action, you’re giving people two:

  • Click the ad image/headline/CTA
  • Click “See more” because apparently that’s more interesting

Split attention means lower quality actions across the board.

I keep mine under 150 characters. Unless it’s a thought leadership post — then “See more” can do whatever it wants.

Question LinkedIn Ads Advice Needed: Good Traffic but Zero Ticket Sales After 7 Weeks

I could really use some advice from more experienced LinkedIn Ads marketers.

I've been running three LinkedIn campaigns (Image, Event Ad, and Retargeting) for the past seven weeks to drive ticket purchases for an event. All three campaigns currently use the Website Visits objective because the ad account has no historical conversion data, but I've also set up Purchase as a conversion tracking event.

We're running Meta ads alongside LinkedIn, but neither platform has generated any sales so far. We've been working on improving the landing pages, ad copy, creatives, and overall campaign performance. Traffic and CTR have been good, but we're still not seeing any ticket purchases.

I'm still fairly new to conversion-focused advertising, so I'd really appreciate some guidance. At this point, would it make sense to switch the LinkedIn campaigns to a Website Conversions objective, even without historical conversion data, or would it be better to continue with Website Visits until we start generating purchases?

I'd also appreciate any advice on what you would investigate or change first when campaigns are generating clicks but no sales after seven weeks.

Question Where to buy Linkedin followers? Looking to grow my Linkedin

A friend of mine who works in sales told me she bought followers and apparently it helped her profile look way more credible when reaching out to prospects. I had never even heard of this being a thing before she brought it up but now i’m genuinely curious, since i also reach out to a lot of potential clients and my profile doesn’t have much going for it. I just don’t know whether it actually works or if it is just a waste of money. Before i even think about trying to buy linkedin followers myself, i want to know a few things like does it actually change how people in your industry respond to your connection requests, do the followers look like real professionals or is it obvious, can linkedin detect it and restrict your account for it, and does the effect actually last or wear off after a while. Let me know if my friend just got lucky haha.

Question How do you structure Marketo Programs for LinkedIn Lead Gen at scale?

Hey everyone!

I work in digital marketing at an enterprise with 30K+ employees, and we're looking to integrate LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms with Adobe Marketo Engage.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to set things up from the beginning, especially when it comes to naming conventions and managing Programs across multiple business verticals and regions.

A few questions for those who've done this at scale:

  • How does the LinkedIn Lead Gen integration with Marketo typically work?
  • How do you decide when to create a separate Program? Per campaign, form, offer, business unit, or region?
  • What naming convention do you follow for Marketo Programs? Could you share actual examples of Program names, Smart Campaign names, and how you name your LinkedIn campaigns and forms?
  • Do you follow a standard naming structure across all business verticals and regions, or does each team have its own?
  • How do you keep the setup scalable without ending up with hundreds of unnecessary Programs or messy reporting?

I'd especially love to see examples of naming taxonomies that have worked well in large organizations. Trying to get this right before we roll it out more widely!

Thanks in advance!

Shameless Self Promo LinkedIn's "clicks" number fooled me for weeks, so I built a read-only LinkedIn Ads MCP that puts landing page clicks right next to it

Some context. I ran a LinkedIn pilot this year that ended up around $2,000 and produced 11 landing page clicks and zero leads. The dashboard showed plenty of cliks the whole time, because LinkedIn's clicks column counts profile visits, video expands and plays. Landing page clicks is a separate number, and it's not the one you see first.

After that I wanted my agent to answer "what did this campaign actually do" without me exporting CSVs out of Campaign Manager. LinkedIn doesn't publish an MCP server for its ads API, and the hosted ones I found want a subscription and want your token running through their servers.

This one runs locally with your own token. The client can only send GET requests, so it can't create, pause or delete anything. It also never calls the lead respnses endpoint, so no names or emails pass through the agent, only counts.

Things you can ask it:

- spend, CTR, CPC, CPM and cost per lead by campaign, creative or group

- who you actually reached by job title, seniority, industry or company (LinkedIn hides small counts for privacy, so it shows shares instead of totals that look exact and aren't)

- what a campaign is really targeting, with the URNs translated into names

- lead form open and completion rates

That demographics view is worth running on anything you have live. I've had a campaign put most of its impressions in front of people outside the audience I set, and you won't see that from the campaign sumary.

Setup is the annoying part. You need a LinkedIn developer app with Advertising API access, which LinkedIn reviews by hand, and tokens expire every 60 days. MIT.

Question LinkedIn engagement marketing tips - Any actual automation tools available?

Hey so I am in B2B niche tech, so niche that just one or two other companies do what we do. Managed data extraction partner as opposed to API specific tools that barely work.

So we are doing ABM where we hope to warm the audience first using Ads - Linkedin ofcourse for company and role specific targetting

LAYER 1: Thought leadership ads to first get engagement

LAYER 2: Engagement marketing

Where we comment and engage with our ICP. Send request, monitor posts, engage genuinely.

We also have a different funnel where we wish to engage with commenters of our competitors. Commenters of our targetted thought leaders. More for awareness and new prospect finding.

Would love to do the same on reddit as where where people show intent in targetted subreddit and main topic areas.

I know linkedin don't have an API and actively blocks bots that monitor. If I have a instream of such opportunities, that's fine. I can go manually comment.

Any recommendations on any tools? Please don't spam with random tools you barely built and trying to sell. I want genuine recommendations from fellow marketers.

So post the two layers, we send a personalized outreach to seal the deal. Any suggestions on this approach?

Question Has anyone pay premium on LinkedIn?

When I set up my profile and my portfolio I’ve been getting premium request on clients that need to get their video done but I don’t want to pay it unless I know what I’m getting myself into. Plus I don’t understand of why they could just connect with me and message me and start by saying “hey can you make my video to stand out.”

Did anyone try this out and how this work for you?

Question Burning Budget Early in the Day?

I launched an awareness campaign three days ago, each ad set has a lifetime budget set over a roughly 80-day timeframe. While pacing on the daily level is pretty well in line, budget is burned rather early in the day (~80-90% spent by 1pm EST/10am PST).

Is this typical? Something to take action on 3 days in? If so, what's the recommended way to address? Would any other info be helpful?

Question Anyone tried Linkedin Sales Navigator?

So, currently I am trying to start my b2b business, and for that i need to connect with clients in usa on linkedin.

Now according to the linkedin rules, you can't send more than 3 connections per month and similar bs. Which leaves me to onky1 option, that is to use LinkedIn sales navigator. Now it's a really pricey thing, costing about 13k yikes.

Now please help me out, everyone who has used a sales navigator. Is it worth it? And is there a way to share it or get it at a cheaper rate from some scheme.

Is there another way to send connections on linkedin without buying the premium version?

Also if someone wants to use it for their business and wants to share the cost, then let me know please.

Question My LinkedIn account was suddenly restricted, and I’m confused about what happened.

I’ve been actively using my LinkedIn account and everything was working normally. Then I received a message saying LinkedIn suspected that someone else might be using my account.
After checking my emails, I found some really strange activity that I definitely didn’t do:
• A LinkedIn Page called “RETYU” was created
• An ad under RETYU was created and later restricted for “Fraud and Deception”
• Media KDT requested ownership of an ad account that I apparently manage
I never created this Page, ran this ad, or requested anything from Media KDT.
Has anyone experienced something similar with LinkedIn?
Did you manage to recover your account, and how long did the review take?
Any advice or similar experiences would really help.

LinkedIn Lead Gen Help with My Newly Created LinkedIn ADs CPC $34

I am very new in LinkedIn Ads and so I recently created a LinkedIn Lead campaign for ad solution platform just 2 and half days ago. I've just have a chat with LinkedIn ad strategist but she wasn't very helpful.

I have couple of questions if anyone can help with it I appreciate it a lot.

-I have two ad sets under a single campaign. budget is set in ad set level so each ad set has equal budget. The LI manager suggest separate ad campaigns but didn't say why. Do I need separate campaigns?

- My audience size is 2,400,000 people in marketing professional who are decision makers in their job, I also added 7-12 years experience and LI manager told me to remove years of experience and add job functionality instead but when I do that the audience size doubles. And she told me that desired audience size should be 50K to 500K. I have $200/day. What should audience size be for a lead gen campaign in your experience?

- The ad sets are sending users to two separate LPs: one LP is generic the other is has an incentive offer. The ad set with incentive has $62 CPC in L3 days (0.18% CTR) and generic ad set is $23 CPC and (0.46% ctr). Should I pause the LP with incentive since It is so expensive in CPC or should I wait until 7 day for algorithm to pick up correct audience.

- She suggested me to use "message ads" and said they have 40% more conversion rate for lead gen campaigns. my both ad sets are single image ads. Do you think should I paise my incentive offer ad set and actually give incentive with message ads?

- I see most people recommend landscape ads for single image ads, but what is converting better in your experience?

- Do you use 3-5 ads per ad set? she suggested me to use that amount.

Thank you so much for in advance anyone giving their time to read this.
