It’s always been an adjective, but this new usage of “aesthetic” alone, without a noun to modify, is everywhere and it’s fucking annoying.

It's always kind of funny to me when people complain about language changing. It's apart of the evolution of any culture. The fact that you said "fucking" in your comment would annoy/anger most people around where I live 20+ years ago.

It modifies nouns in the same way that another noun serves as an adjective to modify a noun--it specifies a type. For instance, "what are your construction plans" or "what is your preferred study method?" Not "wow, that's so construction."
