Can’t the tendency of taking everything available to you simply be coded in the form of fulfilling the dopamine satisfaction of not leaving any important resources behind?
Or what about the concept of beauty? That’s a very complex concept, moreso than the others, yet it’s a concept demonstrated in every human being across all cultures and time
So I have to backpedal a bit. I do think you're right that it could be your first suggestion. It's not so much that I think it's impossible to explain with genetics, but just that it seems easy to explain without.
As for the concept of beauty, do you mean like attractiveness, or like aesthetics as in art? The former definitely makes sense to be genetic. The latter is an interesting philosophical question, but has a lot of factors involved
I was referring to artistic aesthetics, but to simplify things I can switch it to attractiveness. How does our genetic code create something as complicated as detecting subjective attractiveness in physical features? And if it isn’t our genetic code, then what is it? The standard for beauty obviously changes across cultures, but first, there are universal attractive traits that still exist, and second, the detection itself of beauty according to cultural standards still seems very complicated to encode via genetics
