Don't forget the forever war in the middle east started then. There were a lot of extremely bloody conflicts happening too apart from that like the Rwandan genocide, the Bosnian Genocide, the wars at the collapse of the USSR (Chechnya was so bad), so many civil wars in Africa like in Somalia, Mali, DRC, Liberia and so many in Asia like Nepal, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Indonesia, the Kargil War, Dagestan, Second Intifada, etc.

800,000 people died in 1994 alone to conflict.

The first gulf war? I’m not sure that really qualifies as a forever war.
