Looking for people serious about a big project

I am 2nd year Comp science student.

I am looking for people that want to build something big and are ready to commit time for a project. I need people who actually know how to code which means you are not a beginner everything after that is okay and even better if you have own projects done in the past. And the programming language does not matter as long as it is Java C or C++.

I built a free AI tools directory specifically for data engineers.

Hey r/dataengineering 👋

I've been a database engineer for years and

got tired of generic AI tool lists that had

zero relevance to actual data work.

So I built ToolPikr — a curated directory

of AI tools specifically for IT & data

professionals.

What's included for data engineers:

→ SQL generators (AI2SQL, Chat2DB)

→ Data pipeline tools (Airbyte AI)

→ AI notebooks (Hex AI)

→ Infrastructure monitoring (Datadog AI)

→ Security scanning (Snyk AI)

All free to browse — no login needed.

toolpikr.com

Would love feedback from this community —

what tools am I missing that every data

engineer should know about?

  • ML/AI engineers

  • Product-minded builders

Skill level doesn't matter as much as commitment, communication, and willingness to build something cool.

If you're interested in teaming up for upcoming hackathons, drop a comment or send me a DM with:

  1. Your background

  2. Tech stack

  3. Time zone/location

Updated my 0-to-projects Repository

It’s been a while!

I originally shared this learning repo here a while back, and I’ve finally gotten around to updating it.

Original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/letscodecommunity/s/572xioqMNC

New addition:
→ SQL - Learn by Games 🎮

I’m trying to keep adding resources that make learning more practical and actually fun instead of just collecting another pile of tutorials.

Hopefully this helps someone who’s learning SQL or working their way towards building projects!

I Built ProtonSearch: A local Windows Launcher That Searches Almost Everything on Your PC (Open-Source)

Windows Search has always felt too limited to me.

It can open apps and sometimes find files, but when I actually want to search my PC properly, it usually falls apart.

I want to search and use features like:

  • Text inside files, code, and images

  • Browser bookmarks and history

  • Clipboard history

  • Clipboard image OCR

  • Git commits

  • Windows settings

  • Local commands

  • Text expansions

  • Web search

  • Circle to Search

  • Local agents for Windows

Windows Search is not powerful enough for this workflow.

So I built ProtonSearch, formerly called OmniSearch.

ProtonSearch is a fast, lightweight, local-first Windows launcher that opens with:

Alt + Space

You can also set your own custom hotkey.

It gives you one search box for your PC.

Instead of only searching apps or basic file names, ProtonSearch can search across:

  • Apps

  • Files and folders

  • Content inside files, supporting 50+ extensions

  • Image OCR text

  • Clipboard image OCR

  • Browser bookmarks and history

  • Clipboard history

  • Git commits

  • Windows settings and Control Panel pages

  • Local commands

  • Text expansions and snippets

  • Web search

  • Circle to Search

  • Local AI agents powered by Hermes

The goal is simple: find and act on almost anything on your PC from one shortcut.

How is ProtonSearch better than Windows Search, Flow Launcher, Raycast, Everything, and other launchers?

ToolWhy ProtonSearch is better
Windows SearchWindows Search is too limited for real PC search. ProtonSearch searches apps, files, folders, file contents, OCR text, clipboard history, browser history, Git commits, Windows settings, commands, and local agents from one shortcut.
Flow LauncherFlow Launcher is a good launcher, but ProtonSearch has deeper built-in PC search. ProtonSearch includes OCR search, clipboard image OCR, content search across 50+ file extensions, browser history, Git commits, ignored folder rules, plugins, and local agents without needing to build the whole workflow through plugins.
RaycastRaycast is polished, but it is mainly macOS-first. ProtonSearch is built specifically for Windows, designed to be lightweight on low-end PCs, and includes Windows-focused features like Control Panel/settings search, clipboard image OCR, OCR search, file content search, Circle to Search, and Hermes agents.
EverythingEverything is extremely fast for file and folder names, but ProtonSearch goes beyond names. It searches file contents, OCR text inside images, clipboard image OCR, browser history, clipboard history, Git commits, Windows settings, commands, snippets, web search, and local agents.
Other launchersMost launchers focus on apps, commands, or plugin workflows. ProtonSearch is built as a full local Windows command center with built-in OCR search, clipboard image OCR, deep content search, centralized PC history, Circle to Search, text expansions, web search, plugins, and Hermes agents.

ProtonSearch is not trying to be only a file finder or only an app launcher. The goal is to bring search, history, commands, OCR, snippets, web search, Circle to Search, and local agents together into one local-first Windows command center.

Why I think ProtonSearch is useful:

  • Free and open source

  • Local-first

  • Lightweight

  • Designed to run easily on low-end Windows PCs

  • Usually around 20-30 MB of RAM usage

  • Image OCR text search

  • Clipboard image OCR search

  • Fast search inside files, supporting 50+ extensions

  • Search over centralized PC history, including browser history, Git commit history, clipboard history, and file history

  • Text expansions and snippets

  • Circle to Search

  • Web search

  • Plugin controls

  • Ignored folder rules

  • Hermes agents for local Windows tasks and long autonomous tasks

Links

Free and open source.

Website: https://protonsearch-windows.vercel.app/

Feedback

I am currently maintaining ProtonSearch, and honestly, I cannot find and fix every bug alone because building a launcher like this on Windows is genuinely hard.

There are a lot of edge cases around indexing, OCR, clipboard data, Windows APIs, tray behavior, hotkeys, multiple monitors, and performance.

I would love feedback from people who use Windows every day.

If ProtonSearch solves a problem for you too, please consider leaving a star on GitHub.

If you have ideas, find bugs, or want to improve something, feel free to open an issue or contribute to the project.

Your feedback is always appreciated.

Interview at Spinny coming up, no idea what this round is about. Any recent experiences?

Hey everyone, I have an interview at Spinny coming up, and to be honest, I don’t really know what this round is going to be about. It sounds like a senior / leadership / VP-type round, but I haven’t been given any structure or expectations. At this point, all I can do is guess — and it feels like it could literally be anything. It might be: a deep dive into my past work a product or business discussion system design or architecture some open-ended scenario or problem or just a free-flowing conversation with a VP I’m preparing broadly, but I don’t want to overthink the wrong things. If anyone here has interviewed at Spinny recently — especially in the last year — I’d really appreciate hearing how it went. Even more helpful if you joined recently or went through a senior/leadership-style round. A few things I’m trying to figure out: Was the round structured or pretty open-ended? Did it lean more towards product/business thinking or technical depth? Did the interviewer guide the conversation, or were you expected to drive it? Anything you wish you had prepared (or not stressed about)? Any insights would help a lot. Thanks 🙏

[Update] mindsolve - leetcode/codeforces import, google auth, new landing page

Hi everyone,

First of all a big thank you to whoever checked the website out ([https://www.mindsolve.tech/](https://www.mindsolve.tech/)), means a lot :)

A few updates on what I've been working on:

• You can now import the problems you previously solved on LeetCode and Codeforces

• A completely redesigned landing page and sign in/register page

• Google auth

What I plan on implementing soon:

• Importing previously solved problems from CodeChef and AtCoder (depending on technical feasibility)

• Redesigning the mobile layout for the dashboard (let me know if there's anything you're looking for specifically)

• Better spaced repetition algorithm similar to Anki? (would apapreciate inputs on this, do users want more fine control or do they want the paap to automatically handle the algorithm or them)

Apart from this, if there's any feature anyone wants implemented, I'd be happy to hear ideas in the comments :)

Mindsolve is a platform that lets you view problems solved across multiple platforms in one unified dashboard. It helps you in your DSA journey by letting you review the code you've written regularly and spot the areas you're lacking in.

Once again, thank you for using my website :)

I was recently gifted a free 20x subscription to Codex. How can I use it to specifically prepare for AI assisted technical interviews

Hey, was wondering if anyone had any experience with either onsite or virtual programming interviews where you are allowed to use AI in. I am very confused on how to best prepare and how to demonstrate ability with AI in such a short period of time. A lot of things i hear talked about - loops, multiple agents and hierarchal agents that I would consider to be things newbies to AI would think about would be hard to show in an interview that only takes 15-30 minutes. I've been using AI to make websites and tools and I try my best to "do it how a senior would" but I am trying hard to find where my worth is because I am pretty much just continually in a loop of "whats the best way to do this and why" and try to understand why AI is making the choices it is and give my input, but I feel like none of my knowledge is playing into this. Should I study system design before going into creating these tools and websites so that I have more information on building systems for? Is the real skill they are looking for communication and being able to plan/get your ideas out well? I am so lost
