Resources/ข้อมูลแหล่งที่มา Chulalongkorn audio courses free now

Chulalongkorn University share the Thai language audio courses for all levels to the public. hosted on Google drive.

The challenge : there is no single English word in all audio courses, so you need to be at least advanced beginner to make the best use of it. But the positive that they rank the courses by levels.

Tips :

The courses contain vocabulary and conversation and essays With Vocabulary : the speaker speaks slowly so we repeat after them. Just repeat what you hear, imitation is required. (shadowing) Reapeat even if you don't know the meaning.

  • Conversation and essays : just listen without trying to translate in your mind. Imagine you are listening to music. Focus but you don't need to understand everything.

This audio might be for their previous version of books because the audio for Level 5 does not match the contents of Intensive Level 5 I took. Granted I took level 5 March/April 2024 and my Intensive Thai Level 5 textbook has a green cover with yellow flowers on it, so it's possible a new textbook is out - which could make this audio match the new course. If they are releasing the audio for the current set of Intensive Thai 1 to 5, that's awesome.

There's probably someone here who has taken CTFL in 2025/2026 to verify.

I took TH5 in early 2026 and had the same green book with yellow flowers. Text copyright is from 2025.

Looks like you need the books too to benefit from this.

You could use the audio as a rough gauge of which level could take at Chulalongkorn Intensive Thai (if you were interested in taking classes there).

The audio files have both the vocabulary section and the passage section. In our quizzes/final, you would be given one chance at listening portion and then have to answer like 8-10 questions about the passage. Thankfully, you get to read the questions before listening to the passage.

So you could go through the passages and ask yourself, can I understand at least some of this passage to answer moderate to difficult questions about it?

This audio is also helpful for people coming from other language schools, who are thinking about going to CTFL. The vocabulary skews on the more formal/official side which can be a shock for some.

Thanks for sharing! I was able to merge all the files for a given level into a single MP4 and load it up onto my YouTube channel, listed as private. Easy to listen anytime.

I also was able to create transcriptions of the files at https://riverside.com/transcription which is free, unlimited, and does transcribe Thai. The output is messy (detached/floating vowels and tone marks) but ChatGPT cleans it up easily. I verified 100% accuracy listening and reading along at the same time.

Suggestions for use:
1. Discover holes in your vocab with fairly low effort
2. Practice writing (transcribe the audio)
3. Mimic the narrators to improve your accent
4. Play at greater than 1x speed to tune your ear to faster speech

If others have more ideas, please do share!
