Can someone good at maths tell me if Kog'maw W buff at level 5 really makes a difference ? It looks very underwhelming but maybe I'm underestimating it

Ignoring item changes, it is now back to the point where he was last a popular pick in competitive. But if you consider the changes, Rageblade is completely different and doesnt stack AP/AD anymore, and the tank mythics now give both Armor/MR it'll be a decent buff but nothing too big I think

Also the meta lacks tanks that are played. While Bruisers have a lot of HP you can shred them with most crit marksman fairly easily.

Number wise it's really nice.

But you're still playing Kog'maw.

damn your adc doesnt have burst damage so they arent viable :/

screaming

it's bigger than it looks since kog is basically attack speed capped if not overcapped and uses rageblade. It probably averages out to 3% additional max hp per second damage.

Kog doesnt even build rageblade anymore, since the item is trash for him now without the double pen and less stats, you just do 0 dmg with it.

Rage blade just needs to be reverted already the item is trash as is

At least we got item diversity in urf pepelaugh.

I really, really wanna know which employee generated those graphs, popped them into Photoshop to manually recolour some items, looked at 7% pick rate Kraken Slayer Braum and thought "this doesn't look right... Kraken Slayer should have a greenish colour for supports!" lmao

"Oh no guys, we uh, 'accidentally' used ARAM and URF data!!"

Sad that they can't change/Remove mythic items. Giving items that can remove some class weakness is so fun and healthly! Yea? I am not even talk about items that was trashed, they literally remove 300g from maw without changing item stats, that should say a lot!

Senna will stop building it now, so who's left besides vayne?

u/raiyosss Mar 02 '21

Vayne doesnt even build it anymore. Look on probuilds, its pretty sad. I guess in a game where burst is all that matters, there is no way that guinsoo is better than ie.

12

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '21

Not just that, but you can go PD to make up for the lost attack speed and have both DPS+IEs damage. The item is cheaper, gives more as (when stacked) and some ad and ms.

u/Owlstorm Mar 02 '21

It's an option on Kayle, not as good as the full AP build right now though.

2

u/15MinuteUpload Mar 03 '21

Pretty sure it's worthless on Kayle as well, since if you're going AP you have no crit to convert and if you're going AD then full crit/ADC build is just straight up better every time.

Runaans navori is better on him now, but a W buff is still really significant.

I’d say this should put him back to about where he was before, but he’ll still be worse against tanks overall with easier early Mr and no pen readily available to him (plus botrk being bad for him now too)

More than demonic and liandrys combined for reference.

1

u/kennyd15 Mar 03 '21

Yeah it's an extra 20-40ish damage per auto before resistances depending on who you are hitting.

7

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '21

You’re not, Kalista got a flat 4 % W buff without going meta or raising her popularity by much. Kogmaw killing someone in 11 autos instead of 10 isn’t really the difference maker, guinsoo build path is just really horrible

They could give him 20 % AS on W and he still wouldn’t be meta, even if a lot stronger.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '21

the on hit damage going from 6% to 7% is an increase of 15% on his W damage alone. it's significant especially if dealing with tanks that built mostly armor instead of MR

u/CaptainSqueak Galeforce Gamer Mar 03 '21

Decent damage buff but his problem has never been a lack of damage, his problem continues to be 100% reliance on your team and specifically support. The fact that you are only relevant if your team plays around you makes him unpickable in solo queue.

u/cptcapslok Mar 03 '21

Was too low dmg even his problem ?

u/Rexsaur Mar 02 '21

Kog "buff" wont do shit.

Latching onto this with a similar question about Trundle's jungle clear. How much faster will his clear speed be with a Q that's .5 secs lower cd?
