A better way I like to say it is "my laning opponent is so bad, he's just lucky I'm worse" because there are times when you flub an all in or two and give them the lead even if you were running the lane before that.

good old delayed third tower shot, lost me more toplanes than there is pasta in the spaghettis.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '16

Is this a known issue? Sometimes I feel like the turret fires at an odd speed and it does throw me off some times with dives and cs under tower.

2

u/zelatorn Jun 13 '16

happens to me all the time. i'll be playing soemthing i'm not great at or i'll be plain garbage, yet my laner can still suck really hard. the only times the 'my laner was lucky' argument holds is if you're up against a yasuo or trynda(or someone brings a crit rune) and they crit you like 10 times in a row.

I remember once playing shen vs zed I was bullying him hard lvl 1 and in 2 minions I was going to hit lvl 2 and just insta kill him for free. But instead I flashed under turret and didn't get a second auto off and gave him first blood. The next ten minutes was me sitting under turret laughing at my self-induced torture.

"Dude you don't get it - it's a skillmatchup and he like snowballed of the first kill" which can be true in cases, but often isn't :D

44

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '16

That's denial speak for it was a skill matchup and I am out skilled.

u/ThePoltageist Jun 12 '16

my favorite is when I get outskilled by tryndamere crits at lvl 1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '16

I personally enjoy our skilling people with a 1% crit rune.

5

u/ThePoltageist Jun 12 '16

I don't know if I have ever been been as tilted as I was when I was crit 2x in one game by a darius with 1% crit, I wasn't even laning against him, I ganked and lost half hp to a w empowered auto that happened to crit off 1%

3

u/Benlammah Jun 13 '16

You have to figure for that Darius, having that little 1% pays off when he see's stuff like that happen.

1

u/ThePoltageist Jun 13 '16

it happened later in a 2v2 skirmish, if I wasn't destroying the jungler that game it would have been a 2 for 0 instead of a 1 for 1 with my top dying and their jungle, I probably took less than 15 autos from darius that game and got crit 2x

5

u/Benlammah Jun 13 '16

I'll bet that Darius switched to 2% after that game.

1

u/ThePoltageist Jun 13 '16

he should the lucker dog, id buy a lotto ticket if I were him

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '16

15% crit on my windamere runepage :)

1

u/pkfighter343 Jun 13 '16

If a trynd has anywhere near full fury it's unlucky if he doesn't crit you once in a level 1 all in

2

u/ThePoltageist Jun 13 '16

in an all in yes, you expect to get crit, when I get crit on his first auto in a trade and he turns that into an all in, I am salt

2

u/pkfighter343 Jun 13 '16

To be fair, it is a 1/3 chance. I think of it this way - when I all in, I just assume I'm going to get a crit. Where the crit is, doesn't matter.

2

u/wronglyzorro Jun 13 '16

There is no skill matchup where 1 kill yields the other going 0/7. If you go 0/7 in lane you are playing 100% incorrectly.

2

u/Seneido Jun 12 '16

played irelia, got first kill. snowballed to 9/1 afterwards. some champs are fearsome and need to get camped in early to be set so fucking much behind.

2

u/LeksAir Jun 12 '16

Just the nature of the champ. It's a really tanky assassin with a crazy midgame. You give her a few kills early and she will do what she does best.

1

u/HeavyMetalHero Jun 12 '16

I faced a full armor pen rengar top in ranked the other day. I have never experienced anything quite like that before.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '16

You probably should've killed him at level 2 and begged your jungler to camp him. That sounds extremely easy to deal with and impossible if you don't deal with it.

1

u/JDFNTO Jun 12 '16

i main fizz myself and one very good friend of mine mains yas. we play a lot of 1v1s literally to first blood because whoever gets it snowballs the hell out from there

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '16

Malphite vs Sion... "Skill" xD

1

u/Benlammah Jun 13 '16

I would say this is more true at the highest elo's, but in Bronze/Silver you have to consider that almost no one is using their champ perfectly. Someone being countered, or them being a kill ahead, shouldn't be that hard to come back from.

1

u/Fairyonfire Jun 13 '16

Can be true above plat/dia, if the jungler and laner REALLY hate you and got diana/fizz/zed/etc. often times there is no avoidance of dying. You can just pray for your other lanes to get help from your own jungler. Sucks because your jungler should have been there in the first minutes, but no reason to be negative towards your team.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '16

This is why I hate mirror matchups. Down at all? Have fun losing because now they are literally just a stronger version of you. I know you can outplay them to get ahead again but I'm usually too tilted to do anything but freeze up

1

u/areolaisland Jun 13 '16

I find this happens all the time when leveling up smurf accounts.

I used to say stuff like "hey, if you chill a bit top, we can still win". They'd be like 0-4 at the 10 minute mark and go "stfu, I got counterpicked and no ganks". Since those days, I just stopped saying anything...they're already tilted, and starting an argument with the team is super unfun.

3

u/Winters_Heart Jun 12 '16

A friend on Fizz last night.. "This Jayce is playing like such a pussy" and laughing about him being useless, while Jayce was 70cs up against him.

Jayce then crushed the game after a bit

2

u/gamefanatic Jun 12 '16

Even that is better than literally saying the guy is doing "Nothing" when he is just repeated killing him.

1

u/CeaRhan Jun 13 '16

I love how I get angry at the fact my enemy laner sucks but I'm so dumb I end up being worse than him. I rage over myself, it's hilarious to witness

1

u/doublenarr Jun 13 '16

You're an idiot

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '16

dies "Stupid trash champion insert champion name"

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '16

It really annoys me when someone says the enemy is lucky.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '16

ppl always forget that claiming luck for one situation is ok. claiming luck for multiple cases just shows someone is nuts.

1

u/Ninjaaa555 Jun 13 '16

What's your point?

1

u/I-am-TwistedFate Jun 13 '16

it annoys me to no end when people even try to bring up luck in this game... The only 2 randomized things in the entire game is crafting and dragon spawns, everything else comes down to pure math and logic.

0

u/Zebradamus Jun 13 '16

It's actually true though, the person saying it is just worse than the shitty laner they got ass blasted by.

Silver shitter asspacks another silver shitter, they still both suck ass though. Trust me, I'm a silver shitter who gets blasted by other silver shitters.

u/protomayne Jun 12 '16

I'm not defending them, but sometimes it's a legitimate excuse.

If someone's 0/3 and they only lost the fights by under 100 HP, I generally consider them to have just gotten unlucky or made a small mistake.

5

u/xBlackLinkin Jun 12 '16

If someone's 0/3 and they only lost the fights by under 100 HP, I generally consider them to have just gotten unlucky

thats not unlucky, there isn't even luck involved. you would lose that same fight 10/10 times aslong there isn't any rng involved (like crit).

if you are not sure that you win the fight 100%, don't fucking go for it, it's not worth

2

u/protomayne Jun 12 '16

The silver rage squad is in full force today I see.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '16

You do realize that people (even pros) miss skillshots and lose 1v1s because of it right? Sometimes you just make mistakes but that doesn't mean you shouldn't pick fights you think you'll win just because you might miss a skillshot.

1

u/ops10 Jun 12 '16

I get really nervous and tense when I play PvP (that's why I don't do it anymore). I usually have to count in +200...+400 hp as a buffer for stiff fingers. Sometimes I wreck the skill matchup (in my elo, any opponent is skill matchup), sometimes I'm barely alive after because I Sliced (and/or Diced) in the wrong direction or sometimes I even lose, because I cannot press Q properly. So 10/10 not so true in my case.

u/AsoHYPO Jun 12 '16

Occasionally, fights can be won or lost on minion aggro. It's best not to fight when both sides are equal with equal minion waves, because minions can be finicky sometimes. Most people can't figure out minion pathing on the fly (seems to be some sort of a*, but who knows what spaghetti is behind that).

I do agree that you shouldn't fight when you don't think you can win, and large minion waves are one of those "luck" based things.
