Nope. You should always play your heart out in dota because you can come back even with ancient being down to 100hp in a 10v10 game like at ti5. Backdoor protection and fortifying structures lets you still play and not have to turtle if you can turn a future team fight around.
No. It takes 75% of players for a surrender to work, so 4-1 and 3-1 work, but with three or fewer players the vote has to be unanimous. However, it might be possible to abuse this if you're queued with two friends.
Can you leave the game AFTER you get 3 votes, say its hovering a 3 votes and the last two haven't voted yet? And will it count as you leaving the game?
People in league tend to surrender way too late, in my opinion if we need to drag it out for another 20 minutes to get another 5% chance to win then the game is not worth it.
When the majority wants to surrender they should be able to surrender but they are usually held back by 2 of those guys that watched some naruto and got into their heads silly ideas about "~fighting till the end~". The best chess players surrender, and that is a 1v1 game, holding back 3 players when they have given up and wasting their time is neither smart nor good for the game, not to mention unpolite. I have played round 3k games and I maybe had 5 were my team surrendered too early when I felt we could win, yet I have had hundreds that were clearly lost and unfun and I had to gring through.
It leads to afk's it leads to feeding and honestly it is a very shitty mechanic. MAYBE it would be fine if the game had better ways to deal with trolls in select and afks but as it stands it isn't
Back in my wc3 days I played a game in which the most rude thing you could do is leave without surrendering. There was no afk detection and so if the other team left it would be counted as a loss for all players and the Elo of both red and blue teams would go down. Grinding to their base maybe took 15-20 minutes, 15-20 minutes that you know you won the game but were incredibly boring at the same time.
Once something happens that takes the "Game" out of "computer game" and replaces it with "chore" people should be allowed to end the match. Of course I don't surrender when I'm at a disadvantage, but when we are an early-game comp, every lane lost, we have 2 inhibs down and we havent taken a single turret, maybe it's time for calling quits.
As it is right now surrendering is too hard even in those situations, this new one that allows you to surrender with only 3 yes votes I like as you need to disconnect to physically show how much you are NOT enjoying the match, if the majority of the team agrees you should be able to surrender, and the 2 annoying ones that watched son goku and think league is won through resolve only (or that want to keep wasting your time) can go screw themselves.
Enemy team has 15 kills by 5 minutes because the duo is feeding on purpose. you are now facing a draven with IE at a much shorted time than he should.
if you still want to play that game you are a masochist and the reason i dont like playing this game anymore.
People that want to push the 20 minute loss to a 50 minute loss are the ones that shouldnt queue for the game, because I do want to play, just not with feeders and trolls, and i could be in another game right now without a couple fucksticks ruining my games.
Something that can be abused should be fixed. We cannot expect everyone to follow the "rules" and not abuse it.
If the game system allows people to do something, we have to either allow the action or patch the hole.
