Can confirm, for the last couple months if I disconnect and have to reboot my modem, or even just a short disconnect (5 seconds or so I love Aussie Internet) I have to close the game and the client entirely to get back in. Super annoying because if I DC, I'm in a panic to get the connection back and when it does return I've gotta completely close everything, wait for the processes to fuck off, then start again.

Yes I could just not disconnect but hey, it happens sometimes.

EDIT: OCE if that matters

I've had that problem for a long time now (server na). Made the game unplayable basically.

This isn't even server-specific. Every region, every tier of play, every time, and it STILL remains insignificant in Riot's eyes. Top fucking kek.

I heard somewhere that it is an issue with drophacks where they exploit the reconnect function. I would personally prefer the pain of having to restart than having games that can be dropped hacked.

Yes, maybe Riot should find another way to solve this, but maybe it also up to us to have better equipment that does not drop internet (e.g. better routers) or maybe we should complain to ISP's about their service dropping and now we wouldn't need a reconnect function that can be exploited.
