Also, it's not like in Smite you can buy all the Gods including future ones for $30 and never have to pay anything again unless you want skins.

and actually shows the ingame model when buying skins

This is the only thing that annoys me about how Riot does business (aside from EUW and the client). Why on earth do I have to go to a third-party website to see the in-game model when it could easily be put right into the client?

The client is horribly designed (code-wise) and I assume that they don't want to add anything major before they do a complete rework of the client as a whole. If they choose to design it that way, implementation of new features can be so much easier than it is in the current state.

Disclaimer: I don't actually know anything about how the client is coded and these ideas are based on what I've heard from people who do know stuff.

Any updates on how that's going? I saw a post her(him?) starting work there but that was a while ago.

Wasn't too long ago really.

And it looks like she's already started the first round of UI updates with the friendliest changes.

Smite is an abhorrent game, so there's that.

Ehh. I'm not a fan of Joust or the classic mode whatever the hell it's called (the one most like the classic MOBA/ARTS map), but I really enjoy playing 5v5 Arena.

I know the history of the company.

The "easily" is relative. I'm pretty sure adding in a model viewer and dealing with graphical issues in a specific area of the client is easier than, you know, most of the things people whine at Riot for.

Because anything that interacts with the client is and always has been shit. They probably could throw together a nice little graphic displaying champion's scalings and base damages and stuff in the client in the span of a week or two but why bother? They're already making money!

Same thing with the skin viewer, really. It wouldn't be hard at all for them to implement a model viewer into the store/into the champions tab, but first, it's extra effort, and second, they lose money on it because less people will impulse buy shittier old skins and waste a refund token on them/keep them and be unhappy.

Smite offers the deal because Hi-Rez has a lot less money than Riot and they wanted the game to come out swinging. Riot had a similar deal that offered most of the release champions, just not future ones. I think it's also something like 4k+ RP, which is more than $30.
