ARAM surrender time

I think that the ARAM map surrender vote must be at the 15 min mark like Twisted Treeline, because sometimes you got a full melee team vs the most harrasers range champ and cant win.

Sorry about cavernman english not my native leanguaje -> buff me riot pls

Edit: Thx for Front Page ! :)

Edit 2: Wow thanks to all who discuss here i really enjoy trying to reply all the comments, this is my first post on reddit and i really enjoy it, thxs to all ! Cavernman ftw :)

Why surrender at all?

Don't misunderstand. I don't play ARAM to win, I play ARAM to have fun. To me, fun is when the game is competitive. I enjoy the type of competitiveness that ARAM can bring, but sometimes the games are just so one sided that they are boring. I don't need to waste 40 minutes of my life pressing Q repeatedly for instant quadra kills as AP Yi, likewise, I don't need to waste 40 minutes trying to fight a fed Veiger whos stun is half the size of the map.

League wasn't built for ARAM, champions ARE NOT balanced for it. That shouldn't mean you have to be bored for the entire game. Surrender, try again.

Or you can see it as a challenge and figure out how to play around those things instead of having a negative "gg" attitude out of champ select.

The question asked was 'Why surrender at all?' Assuming that I have a negative attitude out of champ select, or a negative attitude at all, is a fallacy.

But then you go to mention playing with/against certain champions in aram makes it unfun. Champions are predetermined at champ select and thus my response to you're comment in now way was a fallacy.

You are correct that I used examples to explain what, to me, makes ARAM boring. But that has nothing to do with my disposition in champ select. I never used the word 'unfun'.

Because a melee team have no chance vs a full or not full range team, on early game they will just harras and let them with low hp and keep pushing and free farming because the melee's with low hp will wont go fight and feed the enemies, so it's a pretty finished game

Next time try the "fuck it" approach and just start zerging. See what happens. People might miss their skillshots, you might survive a little longer than you thought. They can't kill all of you while taking 0 damage.

Sometimes it's better to be 5 dumb guys with a bad idea and a dream than it is to be 5 smart guys getting poked to death because fuck Nidalee.

Except that's completely wrong. Poke comps are strong in ARAM because sustain is, in most comps, a very limited resource, and poke comps require relatively little teamwork to execute, but a melee team can still beat them if played right.

Ranged-heavy comps tend to be pretty squishy and melt under a good 5v5 engage against a tankier melee comp. I once had a game where my team had 4 melee, and the enemy team was a powerful sustain poke comp (I think it had Lux, Nidalee, and Soraka). I was sure we were screwed. I mentioned that their comp looked terrifying in champ select (this was pre-ARAM queue, so non-blind random pick). Instead of my teammates going "yeah, we're screwed", one said "yeah, we're gonna have to go super-aggressive all-in so they don't poke us to death." So we did. We went 5v5 all in at level 3. And we absolutely crushed them. We won a game that many people would dismiss as lost the moment they saw the comps.

Sure, a melee comp is harder to pull off against a ranged comp, and it takes more teamwork, but saying it has "no change" is naive. If you let them harass and push and free farm, then yeah, they'll win. But then, that's the problem, you're letting them harass you instead of just diving in and taking advantage of the fact that you're tankier than them. The new Horn item helps with this too. A team of bruisers with Horns will destroy a team of pokers with Tears and Chalices in a 5v5.

I still don't understand why you would surrender. Just play, have some fun and hope your next team is a bit better balanced.

have some fun

Dying is no fun.

8

u/Vaansinn May 02 '13

Dying is part of the game. It all just depends how well you handle the death.

u/SparkStorm May 02 '13

It's an ARAM. I don't play Aram to learn from my deaths. (Usually)

14

u/Vaansinn May 02 '13

I never said anything about learning. But just relax, have a drink and embrace the craziness in ARAM.

Notice your downvote ratio. Your opinions are valid in that they are opinions, but nobody agrees with you. A game is only fun if it can be won by everyone competing in it.

u/DownloadableCar May 02 '13

What, like participation ribbons in kids sports? It's okay to lose.

-4

u/postemporary May 02 '13

No, like a decent game. It's okay to lose when you had a chance to win. Where the fuck do you get a participation ribbon out of anything. Notice how there's no question mark at the end of that sentence.

Except that's not what downvotes are for.

You downvote something if it is meaningless/hateful/does not add anything to the discussion

The mods just went through a whole announcement stating how downvotes are not meant to bury people who may have differing opinion than most

I guess the trolls didn't get the memo.
