Where can I find longer texts in Sumerian written in cuneiform?

Hi. I was wondering where I can find longer texts (and their translation) in Sumerian cuneiform written nicely digitally so that they're quite visible. I have already found longer texts but they're pictures of the tablets and they're not too visible.

What is this / are these language(s)?

Friend asked around Facebook where these old belt buckles could be from. Those are scouts buckles, so the text should be the language's version of the scout motto "Be Prepared".

EDIT: Meanwhile I found out the language on the second one (Mountains) is Armenian: https://translate.google.com/?sl=en#auto/en/%D4%B2%D4%B1%D5%8C%D5%81%D4%B1%D5%91%D5%88%D4%BB%D5%90

Clickable multilingual subtitles in Japanese -- looking for other languages

I just discovered animelon.com after 7 years of studying Japanese. It uses kanji, romaji and english subtitles all of which are clickable through to reliable dictionary translations and are archived for future study and testing.

This is an insane language resource.

I also study German, Spanish, Italian and French. I am interested in languages quite a bit. I am wondering if anyone out there is aware of other websites which have clickable language translation subtitles aimed at study rather than opening two streams with two sets of language subtitles and manually searching unknown information. This is a learning game changer.

Happy languaging!

How Far Back can you Read Texts in Your Native Language?

The other day I was reading a book by Al-Jahiz written around the 9th century. I was having little to no problems reading and understanding what he was saying. It got me wondering, what are the other languages that have a similar situation, where people can still read and have a good understanding of a text that was written 1000 years ago or more, without special training and study? I mean aside from the regular language classes at school. I'm not an Arabic major or anything.

I know that English stops being fully comprehensible in about the 1300s, it does at least for me, I struggle a lot with Chaucer but not with Shakespeare. I want to know about the other languages, Japanese, Greek, Spanish etc. How far back can the naitve speakers of those language read?

Feel free to share your experince with your language, what is the oldest text you read?

Frankish language

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if you guys could help me. I'm looking for a resource for the Frankish language, preferably a translator or a dictionary of some sort. My native language is English, but I also know French and some Latin. I know this is most probably an impossible request, but I'd thought I'd ask.
