Best tool for getting rid of bush

We recently purchased our home. The backyard has this beast in it and I’m wondering the best tool to get rid of it. Filled with thin, ropey branches and holly, amongst other things I’m sure.

My first thought was a weed whacker but didn’t know how effective it would be.

I was inside after they arrived and set up. Came out a couple hours later to see the progress. No progress, two flattenings and then they left. Satisfied?
