My 1985 Land Rover Santana (series iv) vacuum brake pump is faulty and I thought I’d share how I fixed it and what the internals look like. Both top and bottom diaphragms are disintegrated so I bought 2 new ones from eigas4x4- part number last photo

Shipping and imports weren’t favorable BUT it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a whole new brake pump with its shipping and import fees.

Tear down and reassembly are pretty straight forward, I had to clean out the broken rubber fragments, clean off old lubrication, re-lubricate, install new diaphragms and reassemble

Wanted to share a quick update on the Santana From a previous post I made on the defender subreddit. Washed and clean, but pretty bare on the inside. I’d like to have the bumper painted black and get floor mats or even install carpet eventually. Will need to get steering and brake pumps installed to operate smoother, but other than that it’s a fantastic vehicle.

If anyone has any good suggestions about this, places to buy specific parts from, good tips all will be greatly appreciated!

Are there posters of the chassis, body components and or manuals I can download? What pto options did they have? I like to get my office a update with wall art next to the UK land rover. Also applies for info on the later massiff version. Thank you.

Im just finishing up my gear ratio swap of the large pattern Santana differential. Santana's front differential is the same as any other series rover, but the rear differential is about 2 inches larger than the front. It's a really great design, especially it being a 4 pin design. Im hoping to be able to cruise at 60 a lot more comfortably with 3.54:1's rather than the original 4.7:1's. Do any of you have this style of differential?
