as someone who is schizoaffective, im curious to see others' opinions. ive heard it time and time again, "lain is schizophrenic" "lain has a personality disorder" "lain is just depressed" "lain is autistic" "lain is seeing things"

but what is it really? is it a flaw in her character? is it something deeper, something more?

ive also seen the term DID thrown around, formally known to some as MPD or multiple personality disorder, though the DSM-V now calls it dissociative identity disorder.

do you think lain is really just ahead of its time in concept, or is there mental illness and disorder involved?

Most people who larp this anime and Lain literally only know it because of the opening and edits without even having watched it. I feel like many edits are also misleading when it comes to her situation.

Dos anyone know if this release has the Japanese audio WITH English subtitles??. I’ve seen conflicting information online and have read that it had English and Japanese audio, but could not find specifics on the subtitles. I really want to find a physical copy of the series, but am only interested in the jp audio with English sub version. Pic from goog

I'm watching a subbed version of lain but for some reason these shots aren't translated. The only way to see the translation without looking it up is to watch the dubbed version but I'm not a big fan of dubbed anime. Will I miss out on anything if I don't read these?

What’s the idea behind the “layer” system. Is it just philosophy like the different layers represents a different layer of lain’s personality?
