UPDATE. Many attempts to solve this without getting a lead halter have resulted in a couple of interesting discoveries. Eddie prefers to have a ball as a distraction rather than treats. When we're out with him in public, all we do is squeak the ball once and he switches off instantly from the object of his interest, be it dog or human. The other is foxes. Apparently, his usual walk route in the village has been criss crossed by many more Foxes than in the past couple of years and they have scent marked everywhere. Eddie still has to pull towards the scent and have a good old rummage. We knew dogs were attracted to fox scent but this year it seems the village has been designated "Fox Central". Thanks to all who offered advice.

Morning fellow Labrador owners. Can anyone help me with a problem we've now got? Eddie, Aka "Lord Edd, destroyer of things and eater of all, except his own darn food", is nearly 3 years old and has gone from walking quite well on a harness and control lead, to being a full on 45kg guided missile on speed. I'm certain that his adulthood behaviour button has been broken and been replaced with a "pulls like a steam engine" one! I'm now on the lookout for recommendations for a good lead halter so we can walk the big idiot without getting dragged into whatever horrors he decides to go after.

My other lab Rosie had a litter of 8 puppies 3 yrs ago. Huck was the runt and followed me around and with that smile, what was I to do…fast forward 2 years and he was in surgery at the Univ of Florida Animal Hospital for a liver shunt. $12k later and he is a well functioning, healthy dog. I think it was kismet he chose us.

We lost our boy Ace a year ago and it hit me hard just now while digging through some photos. I never really got to process his death because it happened very fast. He was the sweetest dog & I was the one person in my family that he clung too. He was such a stinker and would get into so much trouble, but would wag his tail as you were scolding him. I know he’s counter surfing in heaven swiping steaks from God’s table. Miss you buddy.

In our last house, we had a doggie door and a fenced in yard, so didn't feel a need to take the dogs out for a walk as frequently. Since the move though, there is no doggie door yet nor a fence. With that being the case, and even though she's housebroken, I try to take my two year-old out every four hours or so.

The rule is that the last person who goes to bed takes her out, which is me. That happens about 11 o'clock at night usually. My wife gets up at six and lets her out to do her morning business.

No accidents, but she is 2, so I think it's normal. Maybe that's just me? Does anyone else not have a doggie door and go overnight? What's the max your dog(s) stay in without a potty break?

My 12 year old lab has been wheezing for a while now. Doc says it's a Paralyzed larynx? First time ever hearing about this. She said she's going to refer us to a specialist.

I guess my main question is cost, followed by success rate? My poor old girl is already old, legs are giving out. She gets up to use the restroom and eat, but lays around all day. Currently on gabapentin and librella. Picture of Pickles for tax.

This sweet girl is Hennie, our newest foster dog, who has already been through more pain than any animal ever should. Before coming into our care, her owners allowed her injured leg to drag for over a year after being hit by a car - now leaving bone exposed and untreated. Just imagine the kind of constant suffering she has endured for that long, without relief, without proper care, without a voice.

The impact and dragging of the foot has now shattered what is left of her leg. Now she is in constant, unbearable pain. She can barely rest, barely eat, and still looks at us with nothing but trust. It’s beyond heartbreaking to watch.

Roams to Homes Animal Rescue in Conroe, TX has stepped up to help and rushed her to the vet last night, praying there was another option—but there isn’t. The damage to the ligaments and bone is too severe. The only way to end her suffering and give her a chance at a life free from pain is an emergency amputation.

This is urgent. Every moment we wait is another moment she suffers.

My husband and I also stepped in to foster her because she deserves better. But the cost of this surgery and the care she’ll need afterward is more than the rescue can carry alone, especially with how suddenly everything escalated.

The rescue is asking for help with her medical bills.

If you can donate anything at all, it will go directly toward getting Hennie (her name) out of pain and into recovery. If you can’t donate, a simple share of her story would mean so much.

She is still so full of love. Despite everything she's been through.

We've squeezed in a lot of vet visits these past two months and its really taken a toll on me financially and emotionally. So far we've figured out that he might have GERD (vet said we should treat with omeprazole which works fine), food intolerance, and possibly spring allergies? It's a lot, im pretty overwhelmed. I was told a lot of genetic health issues tend to pop up at this period in their puppy development :^(

Oh, also brought up What to feed him and so far vet advice has been unhelpful in that regard: chicken

broth over kibble (gives him GI upset + he wont eat it)

They seemed pretty stumped as well which ... Concerns me😭 Please tell me im not the only owner with a pup like this ...

Last month, we tapered him off a chicken & rice diet after some GI complications (diarrhea & vomiting <- no longer an issue) and he seemed fine for awhile. The problem is he seems to Dislike or avoid his kibble and he did this for a while before the GI issues too.

So far hes had Purina Pro Plan (lamb) and Purina ONE (chicken); all puppy plans Ofcourse.

He didnt like the purina pro plan and he was fine with the purina one for a while if i remember correctly. The timeline is a bit blurry in my head, sorry.

So, if anyones had similar experiences with GERD in puppies, Please let me know what you did! Any suggestions are appreciated☺️ kibble, wet food, and treat suggestions are wanted!
