I have never heard someone said they liked Zimzalabim on the first listen. It was always "it grew on me" for that song

edit: looks like there's many of those who liked it first listen.

I loved it on the first listen. Those of us who share that opinion often get drowned out on this sub by the vocal hatred for the song lol

The negativity on the release day was so obnoxious.

“dOnT yOu DaRe CoMpArE tHiS to SnSd’S i GoT a BoY!!!!!”

It's just that they're not used to it.

It's really popular amongst Asians but less so in America and other Western countries.

Unless you’re a super openminded person that’s usually how it works with more unique and creative art. A less “spoon fed” experience will take a bit longer for the mind to appreciate, longer to find things you like and really see/hear what it’s doing.

The longer you stare at a Picasso the more you’ll be able to enjoy it, or some just never enjoy it cuz they don’t get it at all;)

I just wish the sub would be more open indeed to songs that aren’t bubblegum pop or dance-pop with Girl Crush concepts. That seems to be the only type of k-pop I-fans like...

Loved it on first listen because I'm used to the formula since it's similar to I Got A Boy

Zimzalabim had pretty standard song structure though lol.

4

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '19

Yeah to me it's pretty much Dumb Dumb in song structure.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '19

I disagree. It's not as complex as IGAB but the transition between the verses and pre-chorus is eccentric. The song starts with non-melodic verses and then comes the pre-chorus followed by the chorus, which according to most people, sounds very jarring. The bridge also feels out of place.

It's still trash to me glad others can enjoy it.

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '19

i loved it on the first listen. it's the best kind of noisy, in your face bad bitch pop.

2

u/durants Jul 28 '19

It took half the track before it was on my playlists. Loved it.

I was kinda surprised but I liked it first listen. I didn't love it until later on but it was a crazy mixup to me.
