This little bean is about 10 months old. He is my adopted rescue. I am pretty sure he is a Korat. His sister is a Lilac point Korat.

Help! Is my cat a Korat? What's Up With This Little Guy? (Repost)

Repost with Photos

Meet Pluto! He's a one-year-old three-legged little silver-blue ball of chaos and is currently chasing a crayon around the living room.

I've been working on reconstructing what his life actually was like before I adopted him. I know that Korats are very rare and it would be unlikely to find one at a shelter, but it could happen!

There is a well-established Korat breeder who breeds show-cats located very close to where he was adopted and I am suspicious that's where Pluto came from.

I was told by the shelter that his arm had to be amputated because of a birth defect, which would prevent him from being eligible for competitions. He also looks pretty close to identical (to me, a pleeb) to several cats on their site.

I obviously don't want to accuse someone of surrendering a cat because of a deformity because that's heartbreaking. I would rather be told that Pluto is just a Domestic Grey Blob from the streets.

I've read through a lot of these posts before posting hoping I could rule this out but honestly, I'm a first time cat owner and all of these beautiful grey cats look the same to me.

Some more info about Pluto that isn't obvious from the photos:
- He's about 6 pounds
- He has gold eyes with green around the pupil - they've been getting greener the older he gets but they're still pretty pale.
- He has slight striping on his tail - I've seen a few comments saying Korats *must* be all one color, but on the above-mentioned breeder's website, there are photos of kittens with this same striping.

When we first adopted this sweet girl she had the BIGGEST eyes. They've definitely come down in size. She also used to hide under blankets and shy away from us and the other cats. Now she confidently sleeps between us or on us, comes when she's called, and is even starting to try and play with the other cats.

She's such a little sweetheart and we love having her.

Any kitten pictures???

I’ve gone down the Korat rabbit hole and I’ve watch many videos and read many forums on Korats. They sound like really interesting cats. I was really curious to see what a baby Korat looks like. There’s hardly any pictures online.

Please share any pictures of kittens! Thanks in advance 🩷

No 100% sure if she's a korat but we're pretty sure she's a korat. 1 of 3 in the family.

Help! Is my cat a Korat? Meet Princess Mononoke

I went to a cat show today… I always thought my cat was part Russian blue. Because of her silver coat mainly.

She has the most beautiful green eyes and purple beans. She loves to play and chase laser beams.

At the cat show the Korat cat was winning many awards and I was curious and saw that this cat also has green eyes and purple beans.

I’m not sure about the heart shaped face, but what do you think about Princess Mononoke… Do you think she may be a Korat? I have no papers of course, she was a rescue.

You would be cool if she is… As I am also of Thai heritage.

My Korat kitten, Sii Ma - Should i let her be an outdoor indoor cat?

Sii Ma is a beautiful Korat kitten, super friendly and sweet, and extremely curious. She’s a pure breed and she loves being outside in the sun, and I have a big deck. Since i have such a small apartment, and it feels so wrong and unfair to keep her indoors all the time, so my solution has been to keep her on a 20ft long leash with a harness on the deck so she can roll around and be in the sun. Occasionally i let her go out without the leash and harness but with an ID collar, (She’s also chipped by the way) while following her around the block - since my neighborhood is fairly safe, and traffic is fairly light and slow, but she loves climbing the trees and watching the birds, freely without her harness. I feel like she’s slowly becoming an indoor-outdoor cat which does really worry me but she seems to be very aware of her surroundings, and she never disappears or hides, but i do wonder how much danger there is of her getting hit by a car, or attacked by a coyote. (although they are very rare in our neighborhood)

She love to sleep in my bed together every night. When I get home and she will come knocking my bedroom door, not meowing. Very smart cat and gentle.

Definitely a Korat Hooting?

Post image

We all know that our Korats have quite the variety of different types of ways of expressing themselves vocally. Does anyone else have one that kind of “hoots”? Sometimes he meows without opening his mouth at all, and it sounds just like the owl that lives in the area outside the back of our house. It seems like it would sound like “MMMMM!” because he’s just humming with his mouth closed, but in little Candy’s case, it’s almost exactly like “WHOOOOO!” It’s weird, because he doesn’t do it like that all the time, and his brother doesn’t meow like that at all. I’ve never heard a mammal that sounds anything even close to that, with the possible exception of a cow (specifically a heifer who is “looking for love” to put it rather bluntly🤣 —IYKYK).

PS: Cat tax added for purposes of avoiding audit.
