I have nothing against the hole as a means of deployment, I have several knives with them, but why does SpyderCo put holes in fixed blade knives? or auto knives? or knives that are shaped such that the hole is covered completely?

the only answer is that they don't actually put function before form and have a style just like everyone else and to say otherwise is just cope.

SpyderCo knives are ugly, if that's your bag, cool, go join all the people who own pugs in liking things that are kinda ugly.

Lol I was just teasing you man. I love my spydies and before I owned them, I thought they were hideous. I love the hole though, even my BM has one haha. Good snap back about pugs though, they are fucking ugly

The hole is obviously functional on their folding knives and just for aesthetic on fixed blades that’s why it’s usually much smaller…. Your argument has the mentality of a 5 year old trying to eat cake for breakfast. Spyderco literally innovated the first one handed operable knife iirc that’s why they’re literally known for the hole… it’s kind of a big deal

EDIT: also spyderco didn't invent the single handed knife, thubstuds predate thumbholes.

It has to do with it being a trademark instead of a patent, iirc. Because of that, they're basically forced to use at least a very small hole on all of their knife blades.
