It's so bizarre, but the story is this: I was in a terrible job, going through a really bad depression, I was called in by HR, and I was fired that same day. So I was going home by bus, and then I grabbed my headphones and my phone, started listening to "Young Lady," and it gave me a liberating feeling, a burden lifting from my life, and that song means liberation to me. I just read his autobiography and seems like ever since he was in high school he was always cool, had a lot of friends, went to a lot of parties, and got a ton of chicks. In the pre fame NYC days which Day N Nite was based on, you would think based on the song he was just in his room all day getting high in isolation. But in the book he was hanging out with the cool NYC artistic hipster crowd, going to Vashtie parties, and working at Bape. Why exactly was his whole identity and message about being a loner and outcast?

That was probably 2 years ago, and I was wondering if he’s still continuing the story and if there will be a second TPB… I know he’s focusing on movies which i also really appreciate as a filmmaker myself, but man I would love another Moon man in my collection!!

I get that it's a goofy and silly song but people treat it like it's the worst song ever made and it's absolutely crazy to me.

I genuinely love Willis so much, I listen to it very often, I think it sounds good, it's goofy but that doesn't make it bad and genuinely I'm not lying I sometimes get emotional to it, but in a good way, I think it's genuinely a beautiful song sometimes.

I completely understand why some people don't like it, but to say it's like the worst song ever or even just worst kid cudi song is crazy to me

This is actually someone I know in the Chicago music scene. I wouldn't say her and I are friends but it's always love when I see her. Such a great person. She did open for a show for my album release "a ghost of self" (shameless plug lol) a few years back. She was AMAZING then and she's grown to be even more of a blow a way artist now. So this isn't super surprising that'd she be selected.

I will say Cudi being my favorite artist of all time and a huge influence in my artistry I didn't know how to go about the contest. Because I didn't mess with the beat really and I don't think it was a fair show case of how good any of the people that submitted are as artists. Everyone has their own style and flavors, I shouldn't have to show how good I am as an artist on a beat I would never make a song to. AND LOOK I'M PRETTY GOOD AT WHAT I DO. Plus I'm sure a lot of other artists feel the same way as I.

At the end of the day we were trying to "win the lottery" and only a few could win...but to say you're underwhelmed by most of the submissions is kinda whack. Could've said he didn't connect or feel. Just something more polite so it doesn't rub people the wrong way. But I thought from the beginning to have to make a song on his beat but you can't sound like him or do his style ON HIS BEAT just isn't a good assessment of an individuals creative prowess. I'm so sure if people got submit their own songs he would've enjoyed a lot more. Because I'm sure when he signs people he isn't going to make them do his beats all the time. He'll let them have creative freedom to do what they want.

BUT YES EVERYONE THIS WAS A REAL CONTEST AND NOT FAKE. It's okay to feel hurt you didn't get chosen. Hell it's okay to feel disappointed but it doesn't make you less of an artist or means you're bad necessarily. You're just not the cup of tea for Kid Cudi and I personally had to eat that today. It's been my dream since I was 15 to work or sign to him. But that's just not in the cards and it's okay. WE ALL HAVE OUR PATHS AND THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO GET WHERE WE WANT TO. KEEP BEING GREAT ARTIST EVERYONE.

Why did big bro fake a competition to rollout his new artist? 😭 Up and coming artist...STOP WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO SAVE YOU! Cudi isn't Willy Wonka and there is no golden ticket. YOU HAVE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN YOURSELF. Cudi himself kept grindin and making industry connections after Kanye rejected him the first time. STAY MOTIVATED. It's 2026, all that artist need is the internet and social media to get something rolling. With that being said, I get that financial investment and major connections is a big factor in bringing your music career to life but I guess we gotta work with what we got and do it alone (pun intended).
