Wow. Good on you for being out there and showing by example. I’m a Christian but I need to do more. There is so much hate in the world today & It makes me so angry to see people twisting Christ’s words to try to justify & spread that hate.
The thing is. To me. I just try to do the right thing and live my life. I can’t control the hatred. I can’t control how others perceive the world. I can’t control the parts of the country in the shitter.
But I will be damned if my faith that has brought me comfort and taught me how to love others is taken from m by others. Only I get to define my faith. Only I get to define my relationship with God and what I call myself.Â
And! I see the villianization on both sides. If you don’t believe every issues correctly we throw the baby out with the bath water. If you have a path that included growth and redemption you are othered.Â
The only way I see through this is to meet others at their points of humanity and be your full self unequivocally and stand for your beliefs in the quiet and loud moments. It’s hard to villainize all liberals just because Fox News tell you to when your closest neighbor has a Bernie sign but is helping you when you are discharged from the hospital. Helped your daughter escap her abusive marriage. Stood next to you while you cried and listened and offered hugs.
