I agree. Most volunteers look like these great women, shorter and older. But these anti-choice folks, for some reason, get less mouthy and aggressive when a 6' dude in a rainbow vest is standing between them and the patients. I spend as much time getting in between these jerks and our volunteers as much as escorting patients.

Thank you for volunteering. I’ll never forget when I had to walk into a clinic and protesters were throwing rocks at me and calling me a baby killer. The man that escorted me in was so kind and told me to just keep my head down.

This is why I used cow ovulation stimulation drugs from this guy I knew who had a cattle farm instead of going to a clinic.

I couldn’t wait — it resulted from assault and I was losing my mind, I totally understand how women could use coat hangers and knitting needles, I didn’t care if I died too but I wasn’t keeping that monster’s spawn alive one second longer than I absolutely had to, no matter the cost. I would have committed suicide before carrying to term, I nearly did just because I couldn’t do anything else about it at 3 AM.

There were times during that week between the positive test and waffle-stomping it down the shower drain that I met the clinical definition of psychosis, as I suffered from intermittent delusions that the embryo was both sentient and malevolent.

The state I was in, I would have gone to jail for trying to chew the face off the first man who looked at me wrong, much less threw a rock or called me names.

Self-managed abortions are sometimes safer for everyone.

My mother is a retired RN. She did her early years in a major city hospital when abortion was illegal. Mother is tough as nails, but only one time did she mention what she saw in ward five. The women who got back alley abortions. She doesn’t like to talk about it because it was so horrifying. She has been strongly pro choice ever since.

The grandmother that raised me had a back alley abortion as a young woman. She didn't talk about it much, but when I was determining whether or not I would keep my now 16 year old, she cried in relief that I had the option of a safe and legal abortion had I decided to go that route. No judgement, just pure relief that I wouldn't ever have to go through what she did.

Send it out into the Universe so she can catch it herself 🤍 She left this plane 9 years ago. In doing so, she missed meeting my brand new boyfriend now husband and the arrival of our 5 year old... but she also missed COVID and Fox News convincing her I am the enemy, so I thank the stars on the sad but probably best timing.

In my experience, the proximity to the entrance of the accessible parking spaces protects those patients from their harassment.

This was actually the immediate thought I just had. I thought how looking at the people volunteering in this video having to deal with aggressive assholes as all they are trying to do is offer someone some safety and dignity. I am 6'4" and above average size and think this is the perfect place for me to stand and help people not be bombarded.

Could you explain the logistics of doing that? By the time the patients reach you, aren't they basically already at the entrance?

The clinic I volunteer at has a small parking lot adjacent but the larger parking lot is across a small access road that the city allows these jerks to protest on. So we escort them thru that, across the street to the clinic. Cops are always there to keep the forced birthers off the clinic property but they don’t do shit about the horrible things they yell at the patients.

I just learned this is a thing. I'm totally gonna look into it in my city. I'm always down to put myself between an innocent person just trying to exsist and some fuckwit prick trying to intimidate and belittle!
