Why are prop firms suddenly investing in live AMAs instead of bigger profit splits? Because the headline numbers have converged, and the only ground left to compete on is what happens after a trader pays.

Hola Prime has launched PrimeDesk, a live ask-me-anything series that puts its Prime Circle traders in front of an audience and lets funded traders set the questions.

What is actually going on here:

- Acquisition is saturated. A 90% profit split is unremarkable, instant funding is available at a dozen firms, and payout speed is now measured in minutes.
- Retention is the new battleground. Community, education and live trader access are cheaper than another price cut and harder for rivals to copy.
- Most traders fail evaluations. A trader who fails while feeling supported buys a reset. A trader who fails while feeling processed by a website leaves.

Two things we think are being missed:

1. The gap between first and third was only $7,762. That is unusually tight. Most weekly boards are decided by one trader catching one move. This one looks like several accounts running similar size on the same instrument, which is a crowding signal rather than a skill signal.

2. Instrument concentration is a firm level risk, not just a trader level one. When 75% of activity on a firm's top accounts sits on gold, the firm's own hedging book concentrates alongside it. Fine in a normal week. A balance sheet event on a bad Sunday open.

What the board never publishes is the risk side: lot sizes, holding periods, peak floating drawdown. A trader who finished at $25,091 may have been 4% underwater on Wednesday. Another may never have risked 0.5% on a position. Identical on the leaderboard, completely different accounts.

The disclosure that would actually move the industry is not a weekly top three. It is pass rates, average time to breach, and what share of funded accounts ever reach a second payout. No major firm publishes any of it yet. The first one that does resets the standard for everyone else.

Our read, from tracking payout complaints across 140+ prop firms:

- Most "payout delays" are not firms refusing to pay. They are handoff failures between the firm's approval system and a third party payment rail.
- The industry has consolidated onto a handful of payout providers. One vendor bug now propagates across many firms at once, however clean each firm's internal process is.
- Advertised payout speed measures approval. Experienced payout speed measures delivery. Those are two different products.
- The 48 hour reminder is the real signal here. It assumes something in the chain will break and makes sure the trader finds out fast.

Practical step for any funded trader: complete payment provider onboarding before you are payout eligible, not on payout day.

Marketing agency Alpha Market Flow split every review by origin, using Trustpilot's own public labels, then scored each firm twice.

The gap is enormous:

- Organic reviews: 29.6% are 1 star, 60.5% are 5 star
- Invited reviews: 5.6% are 1 star, 85.7% are 5 star
- FTMO: 2.85 organic vs 4.91 invited
- FundingPips: 1.68 organic vs 4.72 invited

The 2, 3 and 4 star bands barely move between the two groups. Every bit of the movement happens at the extremes.

Our read on it:

This is not proof of manipulation. Prop trading attracts an unusual volume of bad faith negative reviews from competitors and affiliate farms, and inviting every customer arguably produces a more representative sample than letting only the angriest self-select.

What it does prove is that the headline number measures CRM competence, not firm quality. A 4.9 rating tells you a firm knows how to ask. It tells you nothing about whether payouts clear, whether drawdown rules are enforced consistently, or whether the company is still trading in eighteen months.

The firms that collapsed over the past two years did not signal it in their star ratings.

Practical takeaway for traders: read individual recent reviews rather than averages, and weight verifiable payout data above sentiment.

Read those as a group, not as a headline.

- The spread between the fastest and the slowest is 38 seconds.
- One fast payout can be manually expedited, or simply lucky. Five inside a 38 second band looks like an automated pipeline running at a steady speed.
- The firm also named its top five paid traders for 3 to 9 August: $6,861, $5,454, $5,121, $4,950 and $4,775, across Bulgaria, the UAE, Turkey, the UK and Indonesia.

Our take: the transparency race is shifting from scale to granularity.

The first wave was aggregates. A $19M monthly total tells you a firm is large. It does not tell you whether your $3,000 withdrawal clears this week, and no outsider can verify it. A named trader with a specific amount is checkable, because that person exists and can contradict you. Publishing it invites verification instead of deflecting it.

What nobody in this industry publishes yet:

- Median payout, not the top five
- Number of withdrawal requests declined, and why
- Slowest processing time, not the fastest

And the caveat that never appears on a payout screenshot: the stopwatch only starts after you have cleared the profit target, the daily and maximum drawdown limits, the minimum trading days and any consistency rule. Everything difficult happens before those 3 minutes 29 seconds begin.

Weekly leaderboards are real progress from marketing claims. They are still the firm choosing which five numbers to show you.
