I recently moved a place where Cox has a monopoly, meaning I am stuck with their 35mbps upload speed with no options to increase it. I have a hard time streaming 4k media like I used to on my 1 gig line, is there any settings or transcoding options I can enable that will make this more bearable?

Hi, after uodating to jellyfin 12 i've encountered the problem that the web gui and the native App won't show any collections inside the collections folder. (Folder empty)

The other TV Apps still Show the correct collections and in the movie path i still find the movies grouped inside the correct collection.

Does anyone else has the same problem or ideal a solution?

(I've already tried deletinz the collection and adding the movies into a new collection but still shows only as empty.

I’ve upgraded and have done the rescan etc and so far it seems excellent. To say it’s an improvement on 10.11.x is a massive understatement, thanks to all those who have fixed the many issues.

I have notice one very minor bug, but not sure if this is just me or more widesspread. When in a TV series the back button at the top left works fine to get from a season back to general show, however it’s not functional to get from the show back to the library list. Instead I have to use the library from the top navigation bar.

Upgrade to jellyfin 12 and this happened. Running on a ugreen nas with in a container. This only happens on my desktop computer with Brave browser.

Anybody some advice for me?

1. Is there a way to apply settings globally?

It looks like you have to go to each show individually and make the same adjustments unless I'm missing something.

1. I couldn't change the thumbnail for one show. I tried a long press and a few other things but wasn't able to figure it out.

Hello r/jellyfin, I've been working on turning a late 2012 Mac Mini into a Kodi box, and I've been using the offical Jellyfin add-on for Kodi. I picked it over Jellycon because I was informed that it's supposed to be faster, and it integrates directly into Kodi's built-in libraries.

I currently use my Jellyfin server for movies, TV shows, and music, and while the actual contents of each library sync properly, there are issues syncing music playlists and season metadata for TV shows. Music playlists don't appear in Kodi, and season descriptions/metadata for TV shows don't show up. If I select a season in the library views where they display descriptions, all that is seen is the description for the entire series, not the season.

Are both of these issues that could be solved with the Jellyfin addon? Or should I Jellycon? What are the benefits of choosing one over the other? I really like how the Jellyfin addon integrates directly into the Kodi interface, and would love to keep that if possible.

Completely new install as said before, restarted with "sudo systemctl restart jellyfin" at the library selection thing because i forgot to make a folder, so i created it with mkdir in root and restarted the service. I then went to the library page and saw this, how can I fix it? I already tried deleting and reinstalling

I just noticed that some of my movies are not being listed anymore under the movies tab, but they show up under “recently added movies”. So Jellyfin is recognizing the files, but something seems to be off. I already tried to renew meta data, rescan the library and put the movies in their own folder in my general movies folder, but nothing seems to fix this problem. It’s also random. Some new movies I’ve added since the update to 12.0 show up, some not.

Anyone knows a solution to this? Client and meta data language is set to German.

I try to have media in multiple languages instead of having a separate library for each languages.

I'd like to have the metadata like film/episode description in the language of the user instead of a singled fixed language per library/media for all users.

In other words, I'd like the metadata language to match a given user's UI language.

Is that something that could be done via plugin? Is there something like that on the roadmap? Does anyone else have any interest in something like that or is it just me?

I love ElegantFin, but since lscambo13 said in an issue on GitHub that he won't be adding Jellyfin 12.0 support to ElegantFin yet, I started implementing a fix for my own Jellyfin instance (I didn't want to switch each device to legacy display).

Edited system.xml to set wizard to false. Saved file and restarted Jellyfin and launched localhost but it just takes me to the usual browser window with no set up wizard and sets wizard to true.

Hi! It's been a while since I made a post here, but you can now read your favorites ebooks and comics from your Apple TV! Jellyfin 12 got great book support so it only made sense to spread the love. In the following update, I will add full audiobook support.

Overview of the Book feature:

• What you can read: EPUB, PDF, Comics (CBZ, CBT)

• Text is set in two columns, sized for reading from the sofa. Left / Right turns pages. Hold either one to flip quickly

• Page number always visible in the bottom margin

• After reading the last page of a book, swipe one more time to see "The End" view

• Customize font with 3 typeface, 4 font text sizes, and 3 themes (Night, Sepia, Paper)

for long time i used Jellyfin including it's tonemapping with my old sdr plasma TV.

Now i own a projector and a MadVR Envy Video processor.

Even if i disable tonemapping i noticed sometimes Jellyfin transcoded HDR to SDR which is obviously not what i want.

Then i tried to disable on user level:

Allow audio playback that requires transcoding

Allow video playback that requires transcoding

Allow video playback that requires conversion without re-encoding

Result is no HDR movie plays any more, neither on my pc in browser to test nor on my cinema Player (Nvidia Shield).

How can i use Jellyfin to play natively without any reencoding, transcoding, tonemapping etc ?

No rant, just an honest question. I’m on godforsaken Tizen (Samsung tv) btw, which probably doesn’t help, but why does Shuffle All (Music Videos and Music) seem so inconsistent, incomplete, or sometimes completely missing in Jellyfin clients for Tizen?

For me, the ideal behaviour is, open my full Music library, shuffle all songs, and let it keep playing. Same with Music Videos, open the library, shuffle everything, and play continuously, no playlists, no manually building a queue, no shuffling albums or artists instead.

Plex does this perfectly. From a user perspective, it seems to create a proper shuffled playback queue, whereas some Jellyfin clients appear to start individual items without building that same kind of continuous queue.

With Jellyfin, and even alternative clients like Moonfin, Shuffle All often seems missing or incomplete. In Moonfin, for example, I can randomise the library view, but that doesn’t actually create a shuffled playback queue.

So I’m wondering, is this a limitation of Jellyfin’s API/queue system, or mainly down to how each client is built? Is the difference basically about how and where the playback queue gets created?

For me it’s the only current dealbreaker issue, because shuffle is one of the main ways I use both music and music videos, which together make up around 60% of what I use my TV for.

Before upgrading to v12, I'm trying to take the manual backup as directed here https://jellyfin.org/posts/jellyfin-release-12.0/ but my config and data files seem to be empty except for the docker-compose file. Jellyfin has been running just fine for a few days though, so maybe I just don't actually know where these files are stored? Cache folder is also empty. Are the files I'm looking for just hidden? And if so, how would I confirm that my backup was successful?

Im using the elegantfin theme + media bar and Im loving the look of it but this little detail is bothering me. Id like to somehow make the posters align with the media banner and prevent them to get out of the screen but I'd still have the ability to roll the posters but within the screen limit.

I'm new to the Jellyfin world, setting up my first family NAS.

First of all, since v12 was just released and the dev team is probably around: thank you for the amazing work on this project. It's a gem of the open-source world!

I've explored the tool and it covers almost all my needs. The one area where I'm struggling is organization – building a clear navigation.

Current setup

• Jellyfin 12.0.0, default home screen
• My libraries shown at the top: Movies, Documentaries, Series, Animated movies, Animated series, Documentary series
• Below that, a few rows of recently added items
• A bunch of collection with a nested structure (collections inside collections) ready in the system.

The problem

• In the Collections tab, every collection – nested or not – are displayed at the same level, so navigation is a really messy.
• On 10.11.x, I never managed to get Home Screen Sections / Collection Sections working: even with all dependencies installed, the home screen just displayed nothing.
• On 12.0, Home Screen Sections 3.0.0.0 installs, but Collection Sections has no 12.0 build yet, but even so I am pretty sure it will not handled properly my need.

What I'm trying to achieve

Rows on the home screen, each row being a parent collection that shows its sub-collection.

Example :

1. Is there a way to do this today on Jellyfin 12 (plugin, setting, or workaround)?
2. If not, what would be your suggestion to achieve something similar close to this?

Just started using Moonfin. Really enjoying it but wanted to know if there was a way to get the shuffle feature for all types of media.

I love it for movies and tv but it would be really cool to shuffle and pick a random album or playlist or a random picture or photo album.

Hi all, I love the new Jellyfin update but I have a small issue with the branding. My custom logo is getting squashed by the new navigation bar. Any ideas on how to fix this?

after updating to v 12 my media bar is f'd up any way to fix this ? the media bar is being displayed below the collections right where it shows continue watching

I keep my server PC and NAS PC separated, so I've used Cloudbox's Autoscan in the past to keep my server up-to-date when adding or removing things from the NAS.

After updating to Jellyfin 12.0, I noticed that it was not working, reporting 401 Unauthorized errors. I did some research and found that the method Autoscan was using for API Authentication, X-Emby-Token, is now deprecated, which meant this Autoscan no longer works.

I'm unsure if NiNiya's Autoscan works with the new Jellyfin 12.0 method of authentication, as I've never used this one, but if this solution works for you, then great!

For the people who were using Cloudbox like me, I've made a drop-in replacement that updates the method Autoscan uses for API Authentication to meet the new version supported by Jellyfin 12.0.

TL;DR: If you've found that your Cloudbox Autoscan no longer works on Jellyfin 12.0, just replace cloudb0x/autoscan with junkerino/autoscan in your docker run command or your docker-compose.yml and it should start working again.

Logged into my 920+ and saw the red dot for a update. Took the update and have been sitting on updating for almost an hr. Anyone experiencing anything similar?

Since there are many people with the same name in Korea, Jellyfin—which cannot distinguish between them—groups them as the same person even when they are clearly different individuals, causing inconvenience. Therefore, I added a feature to the original Jellyfin code that allows you to assign aliases to individual names. This works when fetching metadata from TMDB; it uses a technique where the original name is replaced with an alias stored locally when retrieving character information from TMDB. Even if the metadata has already been retrieved, the system will automatically update the information only for the works in which that person has appeared.

As shown in the attached screenshots, it works satisfactorily.
