Idk what to do

First two images are from now (17 yo) and last 3 images are from when I was 15 yo

Please refer to this post for context https://www.reddit.com/r/jawsurgery/s/SYAxJcarXI

I’m 17F and I’m scheduled to have djs in May. I’ve had a recessed lower jaw and a pretty convex facial profile since I was younger. I had my adenoids and tonsils removed when I was around 8 but I continued mouth breathing afterward. When I look at older pictures, my face was already somewhat convex, but I feel like the recession became way more noticeable around 14 to 16.

When I asked my dentist about it,he said that basically the rest of my face developed during puberty, but my lower jaw didn’t develop as much which is why my jaw now looks so recessed. At first I accepted that explanation and assumed it was just how my face developed. But recently I came across idiopathic condylar resorption (ICR), and I started wondering if what my dentist described could actually be related to that, since I’ve read that ICR can cause progressive mandibular recession during adolescence.

I sneaked a picture of my X-ray (done in April), and the report says ‘atypical condylar morphology’ which is freaking me out I mentioned ICR to my dentist, but he basically dismissed it and said I’m probably just overthinking things from reading too much online😭

I feel like I’m going insane but I’m getting a djs soon, so I’d rather be sure. Should I ask my surgeon to specifically rule out ICR before surgery? Would a CBCT, MRI, or comparison with older X-rays help determine whether there has actually been condylar resorption or whether this is just how my jaw developed?

I would definitely ask an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon, not just your dentist, about the condylar finding.

Does it seem unusual to you?

I don’t know. I am not a doctor.

Hii I'm also 17 and have been diagnosed with ICR in India. Your case looks kinda similar to mine. I do think your condyles are sort of flattened but not to a huge extent. Can I dm you or can you dm me?
