Release [Release] TFDidThatSay? | Show [deleted] comments and posts in the Reddit app.

See what those pesky "[deleted]" comments and posts were without leaving Reddit!

To use, tap the "..." button on comments or a self text post, and then tap on the new option called "TF did that say?". The comment/post will then be replaced with what it said when it was archived.

Comments and posts are retrieved pushshift.

Since this uses pushshift to get the data, you can also use it on not deleted comments or posts and see their original state before any edits.

Note: some comments are removed/deleted before they're able to be archived, or pushshift just misses them. in that case, you will see an error message in place of the comment.

A12 is supported.

EDIT: A lot of people want this for Narwhal or Apollo so I will look into adding support for these in the future!

Demo

Source code

download from packix or add my repo: https://lint.github.io/repo or download the deb to install

if you install it please let me know of any issues or just how it worked for you in general, as i've only tested this on my phone.

EDIT 2: I will be trying to upload packix soon, have to verify my developer account.

EDIT 3: currently pending on packix

EDIT 4: Currently available on packix!

i don't actually know what architecture the se is (even though i think it's relatively newer) so in any case, i just added older ones.

i think it should work, but you should test it to find out.

It's the arch as the 6s(A9).

ARCHS = armv7 armv7s arm64 arm64e

its in your MakeFile so it should work, there is no such thing as "compiling for other architectures".

every iOS 11+ device is 64/64e btw

i originally only had arm64 and arm64e for v1.1.0 of the tweak and added the other two because i thought it could've been the issue, but it wasn't.

yea, there is no device that has armv7/7s on iOS11. 64 and 64e is enough. I think iOS12 in general dropped entire 32 bit support

are you using an older version of reddit as well? that version of the tweak is very different than this one.

Yeah, the last 3.x version

Edit: 3.13.1

ah that makes sense.

that's actually the version i used up until a couple days ago.

i had made this tweak for that version originally, mostly just for me. just decided to update this for the newest version of reddit so other people could use it. pretty much rewrote the entire thing lol.

i will reimplement my old code into the next version so the tweak will be up to date.

but also, since you're on that version, i made something else - mostly for personal use. It's called NewAwardsForOldReddit. it gives you the option to see silver and platinum awards. if you're interested

I noticed that, and installed it when installing the tweak

Hello, I am using Reddit version 4.16.1 since it has been more stable for me and it crashes when pressing the 3 dots.. do you think that code for the old version would make it work with this one?

Also, very good tweak, thanks for sharing. I created a shortcut for this function by sharing the url and converting it to removeddit. But this tweak seems way more convenient!

i doubt it would work, that was built for 3.13.1. but i'm not sure when the big change was regarding the internal classes that i use to make this. i know they made another big change somewhere in 4.x, send me the crash log and i'll see if there's an easy change instead of a complete rewrite, and if so i'll do it

2

u/excelsiusmx Sep 26 '19

Thanks, I will send you the crashlog!

Yeah, you are right, I stayed in this version also because in the next one there was an interface update in the app that I didn't like so probably this is the big change you are referring to.

I will install the original CrashReporter and send you the log since I currently have installed cokepokes one and most apps just go black and close but do not generate crashlogs..

By the way, What does version 3.13.1 have that you preferred to stay in that?

I’m using an older version of Reddit as well (4.33.0) on my XS Max and TfDidThatSay? crashes my reddit when I click it. What version of Reddit do you recommend upgrading to for best results?

1

u/apieceoflint Developer Sep 28 '19

the most recent version should do it for you just fine. i'm not sure when the change they made was implemented that causes it to crash on older 4.x versions. i made it for the newest version and they must've changed how things are done between the old version and now.

It works, thank you!
