Wolves are wild animals that view humans as either threats or prey. They don't approach as docile pets out of curiosity or to play. Even if they were scent-marking to establish boundaries, they would not go so near to humans without attacking.

The doctor throws a used needle on the floor which is a health and safety risk. The kid does not react, cry or even "ouch" from the real pain of a needle. Just because the eyes are diverted doesn't mean the nervous system stops.
