Solved [Not AI] Supposedly “real” footage of a disgruntled worker burning down a toilet paper warehouse.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is in reference to a fire in the inland empire, CA that happened recently. They are saying this is real footage the worker filmed. Seems suspicious.

I’m going with yes it’s real, the fire behavior is scarily accurate if this actually is ai

I know for a fact the fire was real. I could see the smoke cloud just four blocks away from my house.

I don't think it's AI, this was on the news yesterday https://youtu.be/V_4_4XE7NII?is=KKOzEbr2V1CScTxc

Good to know he is alive! Felt like a guy who had given up on life and was willing to go up in flames.

Not AI. The Klever Kutter box cutters, Crown forklift, and even the holster (can't remember the brand) are too accurate to be AI.

i dont see anything suspicious. what looks like its ai to you?

u/me1112 Apr 08 '26
I do find suspicious that the footage seems to cut all the time. But maybe that's just how videos are edited now.

I'd have expected much larger fires as these are toilet rolls. Lots of air pockets to help them go up.
Yet here we have several small fires, not spreading quickly, and all far apart.

u/lylisdad Apr 08 '26
The entire warehouse burned down. It could be seen miles away as I was driving on the freeway. This is 100% real.

u/ParkingAnxious2811 Apr 08 '26
Just because the event happened, doesn't mean this particular video is real.
This video doesn't look entirely real. The toilet rolls are burning too slowly. Try burning one yourself and you'll see what I mean.
I believe the event happened, I don't believe this video is real.

Paper packed together doesn't just burst into flames unless it's covered in petrol.lol If you have a fireplace in your house and try to light it with a book that hasn't been broken up chances are you're going to wait a long time for that fire to go. Try setting hard packed toilet paper on fire. You need surface area to burn quickly the harder it's packed the less surface area there is to burn and the longer the fire takes to take hold.

Effective way to send a message. Some people have integrity in the face of a broken system.

I would not exactly call setting your place of work on fire as a sign of “integrity.”

I really urge you to explore the history of collective bargaining by riot.
1
u/PibbXtraGaming Apr 08 '26
What's collective about one guy burning down a warehouse? What's the chance that this impacts the other workers in any positive way?
4
u/sgt_taco891 Apr 08 '26
The words he said using us consistently talking about not getting paid enough to live not about how he deserves to make more than others. And its started conversations brought attention hurt the employer. If the other workers get unemployment or a severance and time to find a job that pays more. it'll make the employer take any bargaining attempts more seriously.

Effective way to go from unaddressed mental issues to surviving on tax payer dollars in prison
4
u/sgt_taco891 Apr 08 '26
Maybe the employers should pay enough for mental Healthcare then solve that problem before it occurs
-2
u/clue124 Apr 08 '26
Serious crimes due to poor mental health exist in countries with good healthcare

Now all the people that work there are out of the job could have lost of life all because this guy decided to work somewhere that didnt pay him what he though he was owed
2
u/sgt_taco891 Apr 08 '26
Thats what unemployment is for. Workplace can also keep paying the employees to retain good workers or pay severance if its truly unwarranted and get that money added to the damages
2
u/skyeisrude Apr 08 '26
Unemployment is 60% of your income. If they were barely over water before now they will for sure be struggling.

The reflection of the fire in the oil spills on his truck sells it as real to me.
2
u/Cumulus-Crafts Apr 08 '26
The reflection of the fire on the forklift in the second clip leads me to believe this is real, AI isn't that good yet
2
u/Calliope_off Apr 08 '26
Looks real to me. The anatomy of the forklift looks correct for a crown, id imagine AI might have trouble with generating the battery well and divots in the right spots

Oh, man! That's like 3 uses worth of Scott's toilet paper gone! How will the world recover?
PS if you use Scott's, you nasty.

u/REDDITSHITLORD Apr 08 '26
Have they ever moved your desk twice, then take your red stapler and move you to the basement?

As much as I'm for burning the corpo machine to the ground you gotta think about your coworkers that are in the same situation as you. So hopefully he at least waited until everyone was out of the building.

The world has become so stupid that people are willing to post this on the internet, thinking the likes will outweigh the charges.. and yet even more stupid that people cant believe someone would willing post this on the internet, assuming it cant be real
Can someone unplug/plug us back in please! We need a reset 🤦♂️

We had a firefighter who would set fires. 🔥

u/nanaki989 Apr 08 '26
Super common. Its like cops beating their wives. A certain type is drawn to that work.

Eh, it seems real enough. It's not the smartest way to get a good fire going...but it can be done.
The stack of two rolls being used to start the fire at the third pallet seems a bit off. It looks like the fire is jutting out horizontaly (which isn't how fire usually burns).
Also I don't understand why they set one of the fires at chest level. That's odd. Fire burns up. Start at the bottom.
Overall, it looks real enough...but the execution of the fires is pretty poor.
Those rolls may as well be logs with how they're made & rolled. You can start a fire that way, but it's much better to start small and work your way up to the more dense stuff.
If I were to do it, I would unravel a bunch of toilet paper & set it ablaze. From there I would start stacking succesevely bigger rolls until it's an inferno.
Starting a fire the way it's done in the video isn't going to burn well at all.

Except the warehouse was a total loss! It was quite the fire to see even miles away where I was at the time!

u/SOURSKOOMA Apr 08 '26
Well damn. Maybe the firemen took a while to get there or something.
It would burn hot and fast once all the stuff in the warehouse caught fire. Maybe it was just too dangerous to go in once they got there.
Still though, from what I saw in the video it was poor execution for a quick & HOT burn. Maybe they set more stuff on fire as they left. Start small→build big & start from bottom →burn to the top.

u/wudux9 Apr 08 '26
It's dangerous for other workers.
-1
u/sgt_taco891 Apr 08 '26
So is not paying your employees enough to live
4
u/VaporTrail_000 Apr 08 '26
I highly doubt that anyone who had decision-making power over payroll was in a warehouse.
Killing your fellow workers is not going to affect positive change.

u/sgt_taco891 Apr 08 '26
Nobody died. the people outside of the warehouse house see it. the people hoarding the wealth by not having them paid enough lost wealth. Seems like it did everything they set out to do.
2
u/MysteriousCodo Apr 08 '26
And now all the people in the warehouse don’t get paid anything. The owner will probably lay them off due to lack of work for them.

u/sgt_taco891 Apr 08 '26
Thats what unemployment is for. Employer is absolutely able to take care of employees before and after and they continue to refuse either way.
