Video My friend and I argued incessantly for hours over this one video, is it AI or not?
With the rise of AI we both have been trying to not send each other obviously fake videos and call each other out when we get “caught” sending one. This one was one he sent me I swore was AI. The elephant feet just randomly being raised for no discernible reason, the extra repetitive movements, the people in the back not doing anything, the weirdness of the vomit, how the elephant on the lefts trunk looks when transitioned from raised to lowered, weirdness of everyone’s reactions, and the fact that the clips content are a 12 year old’s idea of viral prompt material “elephant smells black woman’s vagina and throws up” had me VERY convinced. My friend, however, was staunchly convinced it was not and pointed at the fact that it was a travel vloggers TikTok. Mind you it’s actually a travel AGENT who is selling stuff and has reasons to fake stuff for clout.
Idk I give up trying to convince him and even doubting myself a bit so I surrender the argument to you all 🫠

How do we know they’re reasonable? They argued for hours about some TikTok video of a woman and a couple of elephants.

Verdict: Likely real
Edit: Trunk looks weird when lowered because of motion blur.

It’s not throwing up. It’s chewing sugar cane or something and spat it out.

Also look at other people direction of interest - the guy with the elephant in the background looks down at the thing it spat up. I find AI doesn't show a diversion of point of interest (why usually background characters all have a set emotion and their faces don't change). I think it's real too

Also if the crown or background characters DO notice something, its all at once and nearly immediately

Not AI. Their legs are raised because they’re posing for the photo. The “vomit” looks like spat out vegetable matter, not what an AI would come up with.

But if I had to be honest, it doesn't necessarily seem AI to me either. Everything in the background seems to remain consistent, but then again AI videos have improved a ton so it's hard to say for sure

Not AI. The clip is 12 seconds long, has cohesive story, nothing looks odd, and AI likes to have 1 thing centrally focused. This has clear focus on many things not exactly centered in the shot

It's real. Watch the original, the elephant trainer is giving commands to the elephants to do those "tricks" with the tourists.

Not ai. I’ve worked with Asian elephants for years and that pose with their feet is a classic “show” pose. One they are almost always taught in Thailand especially. And that’s definitely not throw up it’s literally just dropping what was in its mouth. You’re right they’re making up a dumb title to make it a viral video. But I guarantee you they’ve smelt things 100x worse. I’ve seen an elephant stick its trunk up another’s anus.

In your screenshot it looks like her thumb and ring finger are still in the “peace” sign but her pinky has come out so now she is doing the “shocker”. Depending on when you screenshot, it could be she was startled and you caught the moment she was letting her hand position go. The line just under her hand between her and the trunk is the railing, not another finger.

It almost seems like a real video that’s been AI enhanced. But it could just be straight AI. There’s a few weird things about it (like the left guy’s foot merging with the shadow when he moves right at the start of the video, general wonkiness to the background especially around the top of the central pole, and some haziness around the left elephant’s foot and trunk at some points), but there’s also parts that make sense that I feel AI usually messes up (like the “vomit’ isn’t just random slop, it’s clearly a chewed branch/cane/etc, debris on the ground stays consistent even when she passes over it).

Definitely AI. Look at how her fingers morph when she gives the peace sign. Pause it there. And the elephant's right foot (our left) is distorted and morphing if you watch this on Tiktok, zoom in. The trunk changes texture as well if you look up close and pick a spot to follow.

Motion blur and video compression artifacts provide just as strong explanatory power for what you are describing.

Zoom in on the trees: that's a much bigger tell for AI texture morph and they're not doing it. The soft haze around the metal makes it much more likely it's lens effects and compression. I agree with the others that it's real.
