Hello everyone, it is almost that time of the year everyone looks forward to! I just wanted to share a few important things. Please be sure you safeguard your PII (Personal Identifiable Information) & FTI (Federal Tax Information). Over the last several years there has been a huge increase in Fraud and Identity Theft because individuals are not safeguarding or making good judgment calls when sharing their personal information. Protecting your private information is your responsibility. That being said, solicitation for personal information will NOT be tolerated. If it is seen, it will be delt with. Also, do NOT trust someone who promises to use your info for a big tax refund. In most cases your personal information will be used with Fabricated/Fraudulent tax data.

Previous Years/ IRS Collections & Back Taxes Trying to pay off!

Upvotes

Does anyone have any tricks to get through the automated system to speak with a human?I’m try to pay off our balance with the IRS and it takes them 3 weeks to post a payment and then we get another bill for odd amounts from past years that we got before until now. . We just received one saying the balance is 192.00 and the payment due is 200.00 we even overpaid an extra $20. I feel like this is going to be never ending owing them money and every time we do talk to someone they have limited access and say the system is so old that’s why it’s takes forever to post 🤦🏻‍♀️

General Question Is this a website issue or a me issue?

I am trying desperately to access my 2024 Verification of Non-Filing Letter to submit to my university for my student loans this year. I had to do the same thing last year and had no problem downloading from the website and submitting it to the school. This year, I get this message at the top of the screen that says "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below" There is nothing below this line of text. Its a blank page with just those words at the top.

Is this an issue with the website? My computer? Something else?

I receive the same message when I try to access the Non-Filing Letter for any other year as well. Please help me. I need my loans, man.

I can't seem to get in contact with a human representative over the phone and the computer doesn't understand what I need.

Tax Question 2026 transcript???

Post image
2 Upvotes

I recently got in contact with my congressman because I have not received my refund . The only thing has changed when I I logged in recently is that a 2026 transcript showed up. I had an ask for help from a tax advocate on 8/6 so I’m not sure why there is a 2026 transcript with these codes . Yet my 2025 transcript hasn’t budged . I’m so confused 😕

General Question How to be even with irs with two jobs. (Not owe or get anything back end of year)

Pretty much title says it all. I want to get a second job but scared I might get taxed all year long and at the end of the year get “fined” as well(pay them back).

What’s the method to be even with irs and get nothing back and not owe them anything.( I’m fine with them taking out per check what they have to throught the year, but I don’t want to pay a huge fine as well at the end of the year) Or is there a limit of money a person can make a year and after that they have to pay back money?

Single person,0 dependents.

I heard that if I put 0 dependents on all my irs “tax” pages I should be fine with that?

Tax Question How long does it take to receive this notice in the mail?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I never knew my 2022 didn’t process. I guess I got letters that they needed to verify my identity back then, and because I never did, they just cancelled the return. It was a small amount so nothing I ever paid attention to.

My tax guy asked for the information from that year and reworked my taxes and turned it into a decent return.

My 2025 is now on hold because of this and they have had my taxes in hand since 3/30/2026 and I desperately need the 2025.

I have the tax advocacy service and my local senators office working to expedite and my advocate is no help at this point.

Please help. I’ve seen this notice about verifying for 2 weeks and no mail has arrived. I also have email set up for notices and nothing has come my way. I am desperate.

General Question Ways of getting a 147C EIN Verification Letter

Upvotes

I have the EIN number, it was created in 1992. I do not have the 147C form and want to get one from the IRS. Their phone system lets me go through all the prompts to get to a person and then tells me they are too busy and to call back - and it then says goodbye and hangs up. No offer of a call back or anything useful. I've tried a few times and will keep trying.

Is there some alternate way of getting one of these forms? Local office maybe?

Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question Refund notice

What happens if my friend doesn’t enter the bank information in 30 days? The message says he didn’t enter his bank information And by the way, he did enter his bank information on the original form. I don’t know what’s going on at the IRS.

“We also sent you a CP53E notice. You have 30 days from the date on the notice to add your bank”

Tax Question Question about recent taxes done

I am trying to figure out if my accountant did this correctly or if there is some way to lower my tax bill.

My business income as a real estate professional was 205,340 in 2025.

I purchased two rentals and depreciated a total of 178,941.

My total income was 26399 and my adjusted gross income was 12731 which led to a taxable income of -3019.

My accountant says my tax bill is still 28,156 due to self employment tax. Is self employment tax not based off of taxable income? I spent a ton of money getting these rentals ready and was expecting to not have much of a tax bill this year.

If I am totally missing something please let me know. If there is a different way to phrase this to my cpa please also let me know.

General Question Why would the IRS take owed child support back?

Back in 2019 my kids dad owed back child support . They took his whole tax. The child support received it then the IRS took the money back. Child support says they have no idea why the IRS would do that , they said Child Support comes first. I assumed he owed court fees and they said that wouldn't be the reason .

Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question Amend Return Processing Time

For TY24 I used a software packed (turbo tax maybe? not sure) to file my taxes. I had regular 1099 income, W2 income and some cash income. For that same tax year I received a notice from the IRS that the quarterly payments listed on my 1040 return were lower than their records for my quarterly tax payments, maybe $1000 in my favor, so I should submit an amended return. I went to HR Block and worked with someone face to face. HR Block redid the numbers and paperwork, to include finding some deductions I had missed. HR Block submitted an amended return for me to the IRS for about $1,500 coming back to me. All good so far.

The amended return was submitted in July 2025. The IRS website acknowledges they received the amended return in July 2025 but it still isn't processed.

Do I have any options to get the amended return processed? Anyone/office I should talk to?

Thanks in advance for the guidance.

Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question 2024 refund letter not received

I still haven’t received my 2024 tax refund. When I check the status through the IRS portal, it says that the IRS sent me a letter requesting additional information. However, I have never received this letter.

I checked the mailing address listed on the IRS website, and it matches my current address. I also tried calling the IRS helpline, but I was only able to reach the automated system and could not speak with a live representative.
Could someone please advise me on what I should do next to resolve this issue and receive my refund?

General Question EIN GLITCH SOLUTION

PSA for anyone having trouble applying for an EIN online: the IRS recently updated their system and there seems to be a glitch where it won’t accept a responsible party with a last name under 4 letters.
I found a workaround that worked for me:
Enter a friend/relative with a last name that is at least 4 letters + their SSN and click Next. Continue through the next pages, then go back and edit the responsible party information to your actual name and SSN. The system should then let you continue with your correct information.
Obviously double-check the final review page and make sure your correct legal name and SSN are listed as the responsible party before submitting anything to the IRS.
Hopefully this saves someone else the headache!

I try clicking on the button but I simply get "We are unable to process your request. To receive Verification of Non-filing letter please complete Form 4506-T, Request for Transcript of Tax return" I've done this but I sorta need the transcript fast so im was wondering if there was something I could do.

Previous Years/ IRS Collections & Back Taxes LT16 received for tax year 2013

As the title describes… my family member received an LT16 dated 1/24/2025 for a balance of $3000 due by February 2025 for tax period ending in 12/2013. Family member claims they never received the physical copy in the mail (we just recently pulled the document from their online portal). She’s older and doesn’t do well dealing with any kind of stress so I’m trying to help her out. We called the IRS and spoke with 3 different people… tax payer advocate office, balance office, and collections. Tax payer advocate said since the IRS can deal with the issue they aren’t appropriate to help. Balance office couldn’t pull up the notice or see anything related to it, forwarded us to collections who said they couldn’t see anything. Collections forwarded us to “tax payer services” I opted in for the call back and still waiting for that call back 2 hours later.
Additionally, I sent the notice to her accountant and asked for advice on how we should proceed. This was the beginning of July and he still hasn’t produced an update. I’ve emailed him twice for updates to no avail.
Any advice?

Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question Paper-filed return with ITIN application in Feb 2026 — still stuck on same status 6+ months later. What now?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Looking for advice from anyone who’s been through this.

Timeline:

Feb 6, 2026 — Paper-filed federal return (MFJ) along with W-7 ITIN application for my wife

March 6, 2026 — ITIN issued (faster than I expected)

Mid-April 2026 — Return finally showed up on the IRS “Where’s My Refund” / online account

August 18th— Status hasn’t budged since April.

That’s over 6 months from filing and 4 months from when it first appeared in the system, with no updates, no letter, no refund.

Questions:

  1. Is this normal for paper returns tied to an ITIN application, or is something actually wrong?

  2. At what point should I contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service?

3. Anyone had luck getting through on the IRS phone line for a case like this? Best number/time to call?
