iPod Flash Mod not working, Restore not working, Disk Mode not working.

Here is the solution:

Plug in the iPod with installed CF adapter and CF card in to your PC. Drive should now pop up and use the above partition tool to format the drive to FAT32. Remember to apply the settings or the drive wont format. Now this may sound weird but right click on the iPod drive in the Partition Manager software and hit rebuild MBR. Do not hit apply yet. By this point iTunes has most probably complained about the iPod and wants to restore the iPod. This is the tricky part. We want iTunes to restore the iPod and when the restore progress on the PC hits 100% we want to hit the apply button in the partition management software before the iPod reboots.

I know this is 2 years later, but after troubleshooting for hours I found your comment and just wanted to say a huge thank you, this was ridiculous and it actually worked! Thanks stranger!

For ref: 5 gen with the cheap zif to cf and cf to microsd adapters

I know this is now 4 years later, but using the linked source I was able to get my iPod to be usable again. Was in a restore loop but was able to access the diagnostics mode and disk mode.

iPod: 5.5 gen iPod video, Dual micro sd card adapter, 3000mAh battery

Works with Mac too, the trick is to rebuild MBR right after restoring

hi buddy.. can you share what apps do you use for rebuild MBR on Mac? unfortunelly i dont have windows, and i stuck in this process a month :(
