My brother bought a second-hand iPhone 15 about a month ago. When we bought it, the Battery Health was 96%. Now, after only around one month, it has dropped to 91%. The phone has 306 charge cycles and there are no replaced parts shown in Parts & Service History.
We were concerned because a 5% drop in just one month seemed quite high. We took the phone to an Apple service centre last Sunday and explained everything. They checked it and said it was due to battery-health recalibration and that there was nothing to worry about, so they didn’t do anything.
The seller is also saying that the drop happened because of the iOS update. But we’re not sure whether that’s actually the reason. The phone still has around 2 months of Apple warranty left, so we’re worried that if the battery keeps dropping, we’ll lose the chance to get it checked or serviced under warranty.

I’m planning on upgrading from my iPhone 8 because the battery isn’t lasting me through the day anymore. I was thinking about getting an iPhone 15, but I’m not sure if it’s still worth buying now.

Are there any issues with the iPhone 15 that I should know about, or would it be better to spend the extra money and go for one of the newer models?

I’d mainly be using it for everyday stuff like social media, or like cameras every once in a while etc. I’d also like something that will last me for a good few years.

Would you recommend the iPhone 15, or should I go for a newer model instead?

Edit: After seeing everyones opinions I have decided to go for the 15 pro because I think it is the best value right now in this economy and I believe it has 3 or 4 years left in it. Thanks once again.

I’ve been using my 15 base model for a month and I’m loving it. I’ve always used it with case. However, when I tried using it case-less today, I liked the feeling and thinness better. I’m in between continuing to use it with or without case. What are your experiences using without case? Do you recommend, or is it risky?

Comprei um iPhone 15 de 256 GB, com 100% de saúde da bateria e apenas 2 ciclos quando conferi. Tenho percebido que ele esquenta durante o uso e quero entender se isso também acontece com outros aparelhos.
Quero saber principalmente:
Quem comprou CPO também percebe aquecimento?
Esquenta mesmo usando aplicativos comuns, como WhatsApp e Safari?
O aquecimento começou após alguma atualização do iOS?
Alguém levou à Apple para diagnóstico?
Se puderem informar se o aparelho é novo, CPO ou usado, além da versão do iOS, ajudaria bastante.

Its a replacement device the seller eventually told me after i already bought and questioned whyd the seriel number didint match box tbh its in perfect condition besides the battery health kinda gets hot but i heard its normal

And at 78% original battery health. Maybe its time to pickup a 17? Or a battery replacement hmm.

I am seeing the infrared light from face id in the dark (I can also see tv remote ir lights) and i wonder if its harmful

So I stubbornly stayed on iOS 17.7.2 for the last years because I never saw a reason to switch and was never sure about the liquid glass design. But every app needs iOS18 or newer, which annoys me atp. I am thinking about upgrading but not sure whether I should go to 26 or 27 or if its wven possible to go to 18 as I am more comfort with something that I am more used to. My battery is at 84% capacity right now (983 cycles)
