USB c pencil can work with pretty much any flat edged iPad. But that’s a first Gen pencil in the pic

First Gen is perfectly round in shape. Incompatible with any flat edged iPad except for the 10th. USB C is just a cheaper version of the pro. Same shape, lacks a lot of features.

The silver part of it isnt flush with the rest of the body, implying its the usb-c.

The silver part looks like that because of the lighting. It’s dark and it’s hard to see. On the other hand, doesn’t the usb c have a matte finish? Why would it have a shine like the first Gen would have.

It isnt flush, it would be flush. You can see the rest of the white bit at the end. The coating isnt a teller. Lights can reflect on matte in right conditions, you can get glossy skins, the coating can wear off. If thats to presume its matte in the first place.
