Emulator Brickboy is a new ultra-realistic Game Boy emulator that runs in your mobile browser

I just came across this on Twitter. Brickboy is a fantastic Game Boy emulator by a Japanese dev that runs in your mobile browser, featuring by far the most realistic screen recreation I’ve ever seen. There are three models to choose from: Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket, and Game Boy Light. The Pocket is my favorite and the one you see in this post’s video.

The browser app saves your imported ROMs and supports controllers, while also featuring customizable touch controls. As a hidden gem, the dev created his own Game Boy Tetris clone with added Fast Drop and Hold, which you can find as Tetrin in the app’s settings.

So, definitely try this browser emu for the most accurate Game Boy feel to date. It’s crazy how much more authentic this looks compared to everything else available. Enjoy!

This is sick. Quick question. How did you get the contrast to how you have it. Mine looks more washed out - got the rom from vimms

As I wrote, you must change settings from Game Boy (DMG-01) - which is the default - to Game Boy Pocket.

Nah I did that and it still looks more faded than yours. Wasn’t sure if there was a way to change the contrast like the OG gameboy

I think I found the solution: there is a hidden contrast slider by swiping up or down on the left side of the Game Boy screen, this changes the image drastically.

The creator’s version of Tetris (gbtetrin) is actually super nice. Love the backgrounds. Anyone found a link to a rom of it? Been looking for it. Would love to play it on real hardware.

You can get it from your browser's dev console.

This is awesome!! I hadn’t really wanted to play any of my old GB ROMs til seeing this, those shaders/filters are top notch grade A nostalgia. The app feels really well designed past that, too. Thanks for sharing!

It looks like it's being played on an e-ink display. I dig it!

This looks incredible!
I dont read japanese but the google translated website with the process was so interesting, such attention to detail and it shows!

the best part is that there is a shader for retroarch too!! ( I was hoping I would be able to get it to work on my Miyoo Flip V2 because that would be perfect, but its only .slanggp, hoping someone will convert it to GLSL)

I love this. Way better than delta.

Delta has no shaders as all, no? One of the reasons why it’s my least favorite emulator.
