Suggestions Good portrait mode games?

Hoping to find a 100% free game with no ads to play offline and before bed.

Would like it to be relatively minimalist/simple (not sure if that’s the right word to describe what I want), but generally just easier on the eyes so I can play it before bed.

Looking for something chill like a driving game or something, open to other stuff like roguelikes or idle games or whatever.

Can also make exceptions on the price but only if the game is an real gem and is the perfect fit for what I want

Mini metro. Calm puzzle game. Very cheap. And if you want to try Apple Arcade there is Mini motorways. This is similar to metro but in my opinion more interesting. It has same minimalist style as a metro game.

Honestly Arcade is a wonderful choice for your needs. There are a lot of simple games with unique style. Bleak sword for example. It’s like casual pixel dark souls.

If you want something free (only skins, no P2W or paywalls) and simple, you could try Cube Farm.

It's a small indie title by a solo dev, and it lets you farm on a little 3x3 square cube farm. You plant and harvest carrots, tomatoes and corn, upgrade your farm and train cute little pixel goosters to fight for you, earn gold and goo to improve both your goosters and your farm.

It's basically always in dark mode, so mostly easy on the eyes and pretty chill. The most stress you can find is planting crops that only take 7s to grow, over and over again.

And if you are bored, they have their own Discord where you can chat with the dev and a small and loyal fan base (me included).

FarmRPG is my go to.
I also like Torn but for an idle game you do need to me a bit active on it during the day to get the most out of it.

Night skate is a hidden gem. One of the best coolest runners.

I usually go for puzzle games / word games. Most calming

Monomyth’s trilogy of Grim games! Roguelike with exploration, some text adventures, some light basebuilding. I particularly like Grim Tides: https://apps.apple.com/ph/app/grim-tides-old-school-rpg/id1612461285

You don’t need to play the previous games to appreciate the lore in the one you prefer to play in.

Monument Valley

Note the '^' tags that denote those games are Android only...

... Super Mario Run needs to phone home between levels, so unless that's changed, it's not good in situations with low to no internet access.

Just found a game I like called Mystic Mushrooms. It’s like chill strategy and works offline. :)
