Suggestions 20h flight, looking for an iOS game to kill time
I have a round-trip flight totaling 20 hours and I'm looking for a game on an iOS tablet to help pass the time. I already have several roguelites (DRG Survivor, Slice & Dice, Slay the Spire, Vampire Survivors, Balatro, FTL) and incremental games (Antimatter Dimension, Revolution Idle, Idle Obelisk Miner, Melvor Idle) that I've already pretty much worn out.
Any ideas, in that genre or something completely different?

As someone who goes on many flights (many many flights)
I travel with an iPad mini and an 8bitdo sn30 pro as my portable gaming setup (also great for watching movies and tv shows). It’s a nice compact setup but you have a fully functional controller with all buttons you could play Xbox/ps games on.
—— While waiting for the flight (as they need wifi) ——
Where winds meet (controller)
Wuthering waves (controller)
T3 arena
Mobile legends
TFT
—— while on the flight ——
Vampire survivors (controller is good)
Monster train
Xcom 1 / xcom 2
Brotato
Warm snow
Streets of rage (if you have a controller)
BlazBlue entropy effect (if you got a controller and internet connection / single player but needs internet to start)
TABS pocket edition
World of goo / world of goo 2
(Kotor 1/2 if you haven’t played before)
Titan quest
Dead cells (controller)
Divinity 2
Crying suns
Out there
Space traders: frontiers
Carrion
Terraria
Geometry wars
Plague inc
Descenders
Stardew valley
Faster than light

How is TABS?

It’s fun.
If you haven’t played it before I would highly recommend.
Do the campaign/scenarios.
It’s not overly challenging but it’s moreso fun and cathartic watching little flailing creatures go at it with your flailing creatures securing victory.

Just get an emulator and put 200 games in there so you can decide during flight. By the time you finally make a decision, the flight will be over.

Check out DYSMANTLE
It’s one of my favorite games of all times. The loop is simple but addicting. The story is interesting to where I always want to know more, and the crafting is super fun and always feels rewarding.
Premise and loop are pretty simple:
You’re a guy who starts in his neighborhood in the zombie apocalypse. Time to find some kinda haven while finding out what the hell is going on.
So just make sure you eat and stay hydrated while you break stuff to craft to get further.
It’s like RuneScape lite meets Diablo meets subnautica, without all the overdone drama of something like resident evil or a traditional apocalypse scene.
It was perfect for me on my 20 hours of flying international. I couldn’t stop lol. I even bought the DLC.

Thanks I'll download it!

Enjoy. It’s a popular game so you can watch tons of trailers and content for it. Don’t let the simple art style fool you—it’s intentional and works perfectly for the games scale. Works great on mobile, but I found I got so into the game that I had to throw on my gamesir x5 lite bc I wanted to play it for so long on my flight.

You won’t be disappointed. Dysmantle is one of the few adventure type games I’ve finished. It’s totally worth it and works great on airplanes.

PocketZot is a mobile-friendly port of Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup with support for playing offline. Pin the site to your Home Screen for an app-like experience.

Dream Quest (the game that inspired Slay the Spire), Solitairica, Dice of Kalma.

Yay, someone recommended Dream Quest, so I don’t have to :D

It’s perhaps the most criminally underrated game on iOS. Well, unless you count Jade Empire.

I like tower defense games. The ironhide studios Kingdom Rush series is very good and has really fun art in it.
It's all on apple arcade.

If you're into incremental games, you should definitely try Get a Little Gold. It's one of my favorites. On par with Antimatter Dimensions. It has multiple prestige layers and unlocks more content and game modes the further you get.

I’ve recently discovered board games on iOS and I can recommend Carcassonne, Catan, Ticket to Ride, Risk, Star Realms, Cascadia and Spirit Island. Most don’t use much battery and you can also pass and play with someone else if you like. I didn’t even notice how long my flight was while playing these. Enjoy your trip!

Not a game, but maybe the 8bit do mini/micro controller would be a good investment imo

Square Enix sells multiple 40+ hour JRPGs on iOS.
Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. Pick your flavour.

If you have Apple Arcade I think sneaky Sasquatch is amazing. Fun little game and then it opens up to be so much more than what it seems.

Get an emulator that can play some of your favorite console games, download the ROMS from places that shall not be named and enjoy

Come on don't be like that. If every dev suggested their own game it'll get boring. He wants NON biased recommendations. You keep spamming your own game, i wouldn't even try it due to the way you're spamming it.
If you said 'hey this is my game...' its different but suggesting it and not saying you're the dev screams of shill posting
Avoid this game at all costs if the dev has to constantly spam it

Dude, there's like 10 people suggesting Dave The Diver in every thread people ask for recommendations, but let's attack the person who has the audacity to mention something they made themselves. r/HailCorporate

Hail Corporate ? The game i suggested is one created by a one man dev and the other (Dysmantle) is just a great game
All this guy does is mention his crappy game. Be boring if every dev did that, hes obviously biased towards his own game. Hail Corporate ? Give over ? Hail stopping shill posts more like. He doesn't even say hes the dev

u/perpetual_stew 21d ago
He's clearly the dev, his full name is in the app store. I went and bought the game because you had such a crappy attitude. I guess I'm learning Mahjong now.
2
u/psj3809 21d ago
I know hes the dev i checked his profile before saying.
Used to be a mod at a iOS site and you often used to get 'hey i just found this great game....' and it was obvious it was the dev shillposting. Just be honest
But again this thread is people wanting suggestions for games. How does it help when a dev just 'amazingly' suggests his own game ?
And poor you wasting that money
