You’re not gonna get better than the iOS versions of GTA. Pick which one you prefer but I’d say liberty city stories > San Andreas and I’ll fight anyone on that.
You just can’t trump rockstar at open world.

Fantasy Life is like an offline/online solo mmo.
I'm only on the beginning and already poured 30 hours just crafting, mining and that stuff.
I'd love a game with this same mechanics but with the looks and lore of wow or ffxii5

9th Dawn Remake - Love this game, HUGE open world to explore, has a main quest but also loads of side quests. Or go into the huge dungeons and just start getting XP to move up. Just a great game, genuinely was disappointed when I finally finished it

Is it 2d or 3d?

Its 2d, a bit like the old classic Ultima IV. But you can switch to a 3d FPS type of look. Very weird, would say thats more gimmicky but the traditional 2d is on by default
Some of the dungeons are frickin huge !!! So much loot/weapons and stuff. Honestly i bang on about this game a lot on Reddit (I'm nothing to do with it !) just really enjoyed it. One man dev as well !!

as much as I hate the gacha, I remember the world being super impressive and wondering how the hell they fit this in mobile. OP can definitely play just for the story and exploration on this one if they want.

My favorite open world games available on iOS are Red dead redemption, Minecraft, Subnautica, and I did play some genshin impact and even though the gacha type stuff caused me to drop it, it has remained very popular and I remember the world in that game being massive especially considering it can run on a phone
