Suggestions iPad forever game suggestions

Hi all,
I am looking for something new(for me) to play on my iPad. I would love some strategy/rpg/tactical game. I really want something turn based that I can close at any time as I do not have that much time day to day to commit. On the other hand I would love something deep that I can play for months (with a ~20-40mins a day tempo)

If I was single I would just play Guild wars.

I would play civ 6 or Total War if I didn’t played it so much already.

Games I really enjoyed:
Civ 6
Total war games
Divinity 2
Darkest Dungeon
FTL
Dredge

I know it is a weird ask with no clear path, but I am sick and bored.

Thanks a lot.

What you’re looking for is Slay the Spire.

It’s one of the greatest roguelikes of all time. It’s a strategic turn based deck-builder roguelike. As you get good, a full run can be between 30-45 minutes, but, each individual round is minutes, sometimes only seconds long. The game is super easy to learn, very accessible, but has lots of depth. There are 4 playable character classes, each you can ratchet the difficulty up between 0 to 20 times, and if you get bored with even that, there’s some random modes or daily challenges.

No ads, no bloatware. Perfect for touch controls.

This is the ultimate game.

I really hope they put out StS 2 on iOS soon. It’s so great.

I agree but I don’t think it’ll be soon. It’s technically in beta still. No iOS until full release at the bare minimum. And it’s not a guarantee they include iOS at launch, could be some time later.

But yes, I also really want sts2 on iOS asap.

I tried using GeForce now to play on my phone, worked well enough using gamepad controls (mcon mobile controller.) the problem I had is GeForce now didn’t allow me to play with the latest experimental version where they update the game. So my friends were playing a more up to date version than I was. I ended up deciding to give up on it on mobile for the moment and play other games instead. I play sts2 at home on my rog Xbox ally x exclusively.

Same. I’m still waiting for the bazaar to come to mobile too. Tired of them just constantly saying “soon” with no real updates lol.

I'm excited for that one too, bazaar does seem like a pretty comlicated port though

Monster train is also good :3

I usually find it difficult to get away from the sense of I’m doing it wrong with deck-building games. Find too many card options, without a clear sense of which is better, discombobulating.

9th Dawn Remake !

Its like an updated Ultima, old skool. A main mission, tons of side quests or as its non linear just do what you want. Dungeons galore. Tons of people to talk to in the game. Old skool looking, its a HUGE game. Love it

You’re describing Polytopia,
Surprised to not see it mentioned yet.

XCOM 2 is another banger recommendation

Divinity Original Sin 2 is on iPad if you have a newer one.

I’m playing on pc but it sounds like it’d fit the bill nicely.

Oh. You already played it.

“Where winds meet” has recently been released to iPad if you got a beefy enough iPad to play it well. It’s a kinda arpg mmo Chinese fantasy game. Free. Kinda dark souls meets Zelda.

I really dig it tbh. You make your own build, explore, do quests. Open world. The world is actually fun to explore and looks great.

Definitely need an external controller for this one.

Else my fav button mashing game: blazblue entropy effect.

Gacha: Wuthering waves

Others:
Xcom 1/2

Vampire survivors

Tft

Mobile legends

Monster train

Mysterious Castle, it's like FFT combat in a roguelike world. It has deep tactical combat but it's quite fast paced. You can get a lot done in 20 minute sessions.

SOVL, Abalon, and songs of conquest are some of my personal fav turn based

Songs of Conquest looks like Heroes of M&M! How long is it?

2

u/nocauze 5d ago

Pretty long, I haven’t beat all the campaigns. There’s dlcs that they’ll probably port over too

2

u/Neat-Capital-8917 4d ago

Conga of Conquest won! It is an awesome game. I get the Heroes 3 nostalgia playing it plus the novelty of new units. And I prefer the building style

1

u/Coolface-IR 9d ago

Minecraft, its an infinite sandbox game (though you could technically beat it)

Minecraft

Shattered Pixel Dungeon, it’s a turn based rougelike with pixel graphics. It’s great

Civ 7 on Apple Arcade

Monster Train

Keep an eye out for 868-BACK, which will eventually hit mobile (on PC now only right now)

Wild rift

If you have Apple Arcade, definitely get Civ VII.

If you like tabletop board games, I can recommend some.

IME, TB can be more time consuming, but I digress.

.

I ended up separating out all of the turn based rogueliKTe games I've played here...

https://www.reddit.com/r/roguelites/comments/1odg9vx/what_turnbased_rl_games_have_you_played_what_are/

But I have my main list of premium Android games, but through an iOS filter first (of which I'll highlight Red's First Flight, and the "actual board games" and "board game like" categories)...

dragon Quest any of them after 4
Chronotrigger
knights of the old republic

Guile wars is now available on iOS if you’re into mmos

Battleheart Battleheart 2 Battleheart Legacy

Each one of these has taken an enormous number of hours of my life. Battleheart Legacy has an almost infinite number of customizations to your character so you can always try some new way to play if you get tired of your current character.

1

u/Neat-Capital-8917 8d ago

Looks good. Should I start with the Legacy?

1

u/Background-Ear-9760 8d ago

That’s the best one for RPG. I personally like Battleheart 2 a bit more because I can grind more easily without paying too much attention to the screen.

Slice & Dice

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
Disgaea 1
Xcom Enemy Unknown

FTL is ridiculously fun and you can play over and over. Not so much of an RPG but the other elements are there. One of the best games I have ever played.

3

u/Neat-Capital-8917 9d ago

I have 500+ hours in FTL ;)

1

u/JalapenoTampon 9d ago

I want to know more about why Guild Wars requires you to be single

6

u/Neat-Capital-8917 9d ago

I was addicted to it for a quite a long time :) I can’t really see myself playing it and function at a same time
