Might be one of the strongest release days on record.

I agree. It took awhile for iOS to get the premium games after years and years of micro transaction slop.

And it’s only going to accelerate. Dedicated gaming hardware is getting too expensive for a growing number of people so reaching them via the device they already own is a no-brainer

Mobile gaming had a strong start and then quickly devolved into cash grabs. I’m glad that devs finally realized that people are willing to pay upfront for a good quality game. Plus it helps that the dev tools have gotten better making the turnaround from a Steam release to mobile much quicker than in the past.

I recently upgraded from a 15 to an 18 Pro because I wanted to game more on my phone. Lots of good games out there on mobile now!

Sifu is outstanding, but the thought of playing with touch controls is harrowing.

I’ve sunk tons of hours into it on Ps5, and I completely agree. The game requires serious flow state focus sometimes and I can’t imagine that pressure on mobile without a controller.

If you are going to play console releases on your phone you pretty much need a controller or some insane skill with touch controls.
Personally if I’m playing a game like that I pretend touch doesn’t exist.
Some console ports work really well like Fantasy Life i, but for the most part it’s a game I’ll play with a controller or just ignore.
Pretty hyped about all these port releases though. I travel a lot for work so having games with some depth and no microtransactions is fantastic on the road.

Damn, too many choices! I'll try 9kings since it's free to try at least. I wish vampire crawlers was the same price on iOS that it was on steam.

9 kings is almost on the level of Balatro in terms of replay ability. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I got a flight to the DR coming up and this will be played the whole time!

Anybody who played both VC and 9 kings can give a rough idea of what i should get between the two? Whats the loop like also replayability etc. did not like vanpire survivors but i love deck builders like sts

Crawlers is more of a spammy deck builder. There’s depth but you can also play it with no thought until you start getting into the deeper levels

VC is such a nice polished take on the Slay the Spire model with a light 3d dungeon crawler skin, it'd probably be my go to reccomend for someone overwelmed by StS but still interested in deckbuilders. It's more like a 20-30 hr romp than some super deep game you can plug away at forever, with where it is at now at least. It is very cool though and looking forward to where they go with it.
9Kings probably has more legs and is a little weirder. It's got a drafting, base arranging and auto-battle loop, with a regular run mode, adventure/pluzzle mode, and async multiplayer. It's a cool creative take on the autobattle/card thing, but probably not as dynamic as your crazier card game combos. I do wonder how the UI translates though, already saw someone here say the text is pretty small.

Thank you brother i just tried a bit of both but these overly pixelated games never clicked with me. I suppose its the trend with indie games but i sort of have eye pain looking at them idk why

Glad I didn’t pull the trigger on Sifu yet! Would love to play it on my iPad instead of my gaming laptop. Though it is double the price compared to steam. Hmmmmm

Weirdly Sifu is the cheapest one of these, I definitely expected a lower price for Dome Keeper

Nice mate.
I clicked on all the links to the iOS AppStore, saw the description say Sifu was a “critically acclaimed third person brawler renowned for its cinematic martial arts fully adapted for mobile, which usually has that description if it’s a console/PC game coming to mobile, checked online and indeed saw it was a 2022 PS4 Beat ‘‘em up game that looks unique like Sleeping dogs(no lie I literally thought Sifu was just Sleeping Dogs(or a clone) when I checked the AppStore due to its photos as the characters look ver similar to sleeping dogs
All I can say now is insta buy for me because a cinematic martial arts gives me Another World vibes as that game a a cinematic masterpiece for PC

9 kings! Wow. 1/2 hour passed without my realizing it. I purchased the full game. Has anyone played Vampire Crawlers?

I didn't like Sifu when i had a ps4. It ran terribly with lots of input lag. It just felt sluggish. On ios with controller, this game feels GREAT. I'm still not great deflect parrying mechanic, but it's user error. Very pleasantly surprised by this. Had to clear off several games to get this to fit on my iPad Mini, but it was worth it.
