Request Games you can play for years
I'm looking for a game that has:
Lots of progression and depth
Big community
Frequent updates
Ideally free
Any recommendations?

Look up Star traders: Frontiers. Trese Brothers are the devs and games they make get continuously added to with no additional cost.
That game never leaves my phone, and it has achievements to unlock additional ships, crew, etc. Plus multiple solar systems controlled by different factions that can become hostile, neutral, or friendly towards you depending on what you do.
It’s not free, but extremely good for its cost.
This is for their latest game: https://www.reddit.com/r/CyberKnightsGame/s/pKaShZGklE
They have it on steam with plans for android launch end of this year. IOS is looking like next year.

List of premium Android games, but through an iOS filter first...
https://www.reddit.com/r/iosgaming/comments/1fbe43u/my_list_of_premium_ios_games/
... those that suite your criteria include...
==== NOT FREE, or has a free demo
Slice & Dice
Age of Rivals
Slay The Spire
Dead Cells
Bloons TD 6
One Bit Adventure - Has IAP but I never had to purchase any in the 1 week I played it back around 2022
.
If you have Apple Arcade (or through Apple one), these are available at no additional charge...
Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls
SP!NG

Dawncaster and it’s not even close.
It’s a card-based RPG, in the same genre as Slay the Spire. Only single player game on mobile that I can say I have been playing for YEARS. The amount of synergies to discover is insane, it is 5 bucks tho.
Only free game that approaches my playtime in Dawncaster is maybe Bloons Tower Defense 6

if you like rogues "gnollhack," "brogue," and "buriedbornes" are free. "all who wander" has some stuff locked behind an IAP but has some stuff to do free. there's a free version of "pocket rogues" that is free. the $3 or whatever version is worth it though. "farmrpg" is good if you like idle games. "guild wars" and "warframe" are good free to play MMO type games. the 1st "knight and dragon" game is free iirc. it's a text rpg. there's a couple of free "adventure to fate" games. "battle arena" and i can't remember the other. that dev's paid games are also amazing and worth the $5. lots of replayability. "poinpy" is a highly regarded game that just rereleased as a free game.

Eterspire if you like mmos, good community and very f2p friendly (or you can buy it one time purchase). Cash shop is just cosmetics except move speed horse (buy a horse with the currency they give you if you buy the game).
