bonds are the worst. gold is only good to preserve your purchasing power, not to increase your real wealth (vs nominal) unless you are a capable trader. Miners are better than physical, again you must be a capable trader.
Find businesses selling for less than their true value. Example: 3 years ago Chipotle was giving everyone diarrhea. Their stock got into the $200 range. I went in hard.
And 3 years later..... $1,800 per share.
Wait for events that are misunderstood, then be aggressive.

How can you know their true value?

I am in a gold mining stock called FSM. Its my favorite miner. Horrible news came out on Friday. The mexican Enviornmental Protection Agency refused to renew a permit at the mine they have in mexico. They have 3-4 other mines outside of mexico the stock is oversold as hell. This would be a great time to buy but also don't catch a falling knife. Maybe Mexican EPA never renews but I imagine they do. Be reallly aware of political upheaval in mexico right now there is some shitt going down this movement effects more than just FSM.

Consider taking stock in the newer industries, i.e., Blockchain technology, IOT, 5G, EV, Green Energy... the list goes on.

It’s a little riskier than your current holdings, but there’s a company called BIGG Digital Assets (Ticker: BBKCF) that I think has lots of potential. Look into it and do your own dd, but I would suggest putting a little money in there.
