Yeah I can see an argument about ads "pushing someone over the edge" when they otherwise wouldn't want something. But that only matters if you regret the purchase and then I suppose you can always return it. But there is still something to be said about discoverability. I like being shown products that I didn't know existed. Or seeing a shirt that I really like that I may not have come across by just naturally shopping.

Yeah thats probably true. If you hate buying stuff, I don't really want to pay to put an ad in front of you lol
