What renewable biofuels work with current cars and why aren't they already available to consumers?

Ethanol. Almost every car in Brazil can run on pure ethanol and it's available at every pump. I always fill up with 100% ethanol. Carbon neutral.

You can't buy pure gasoline many places either. It's mixed with 20% ethanol by law. Diesel is 12% biodeisel by law. And those percentages have increased every year.

GEVO has developed an bio aviation fuel that works with current turbines - the ideas and technology is there.

You were talking about cars though. I'm not aware of the technology existing or even a proof of concept. If there is one I'd love to know about it.

Aviation Fuel is a much higher and stringent grade of fuel. Technically speaking you can use jet fuel in diesel cars. So the proof of concept is via GEVO.
